Of course, the implicit part of that agreement is that we would help you FIND said quarterbacks, kickers, tight ends and defenses! We have had quite a successful year with streaming suggestions and hope to keep that positive momentum.
Streaming has been pretty successful for us and we have seen a few players (Josh Allen, Jacoby Brissett, Gerald Everett, and Zane Gonzalez) go from streaming options to bonafide fantasy football starters which is the whole point of streaming in the first place!
The RotoExperts rankings and projections will guide you in making streaming and start/sit decisions, and the RX staff will be in the Daily Roto slack to answer questions for RotoExperts subscribers as well.
Streaming Notes: All players in this weekly column will be under 50% owned in Yahoo! Fantasy Football. A given player might be owned in your league but is not owned in all leagues. FAAB bids will be listed during the regular season but you know your league better than I do. FAAB dollars are also worth more the earlier they are spent in the calendar, so keep that in mind while streaming QB/K/TE/DST.
Week Six Fantasy Football Streamers
Quarterback Fantasy Football Streamers
Kirk Cousins– This is, by far, the worst we have had for streaming quarterbacks yet this year. Hopefully, you have found a solution with Josh Allen or are lucky enough to have Dak/Lamar/Kyler. If not, we are going to do our best to get you to the top of your weekly matchup. Kirk Cousins finally had a multi-touchdown game last week for the first time this season and the Vikings now have a team total of 23.25. The matchup against the Eagles is a good one in the sense that we expect it to be easier for the Vikings to throw rather than run. There is not a very large ceiling to this play as in the Vikings best-case scenario, they just do not want to pass all that often. However, in a higher total game, we should except a reasonable floor for Cousins.
Teddy Bridgewater – For the first month of the Bridgewater experience, he was one of the few quarterbacks who had almost no fantasy value. He ranked dead last in the NFL in terms of percentage of his passes that were termed “deep passes” (traveling 20+ yards in the air) and he was taking no chances. In fact, he had maxed out at 193 passing yards before the Saints home game against the Buccaneers. Then, Teddy had his best game since his time in Minnesota with 314 yards and four touchdowns. That is more than likely going to be a one-off anomaly but he has 1) some of the best weapons in the NFL and 2) is actually a road underdog against Gardner Minshew which should lead to a pass-heavier script.
If You Are Desperate: Devlin Hodges (Starting for Pittsburgh, ran for 1,000+ yards in college and won the FCS player of the year)
Kicker Fantasy Football Streamers
Matt Bryant – If you are in the position of wanting to just get the best streaming kicker on a weekly basis, it is going to be hard to do better than this week. Jake Elliot was a fantastic streaming play last week but now we have Bryant on the road in Arizona. Teams have attempted two field goals per game and 3.25 extra points per game against the Cardinals. Atlanta has the fifth-highest total of any team playing this week but Bryant is freely available in most leagues. With Stephen Gostkowski on IR and Mike Nugent kicking in a hurricane in his stead, I expect Bryant to be a fairly hot pickup this week.
Zane Gonzalez- There has maybe been no streamer with a consistency like Gonzalez this year. He leads the NFL in field goals attempted and field goals made. The Cardinal’s inability to score touchdowns has meant that Gonzalez is just getting easy chip shot field goals and is averaging 10 fantasy points per game. The Falcons have allowed 28, 20, 27, 24 and 53 points this year which would suggest they probably are not going to waltz in and just stop Arizona from moving the ball. Zane is my easy kicker choice for the week.
Tight End Fantasy Football Streamers
Geoff Swaim – Swaim had already been a guy seeing a fantasy-relevant amount of snaps for Jacksonville but with James O’Shaughnessy injured, Swaim is now going to be the only game in town. Swaim has played 29, 35, 22, 40 and 43 snaps in the Jaguars games this year but now the team will need to replace the 20 targets they allocated to O’Shaughnessy. I own Evan Engram in several leagues and with him sitting and missing Gerald Everett in bids, Swaim is the streaming starter that I am turning too.
Noah Fant – Fant and his former college teammate T.J Hockenson have proved that you can still have fantasy value as a rookie tight end. Fant is barely a top-20 guy this week but with Jack Doyle and a few of our other favored streamers above 50% owned, we are scraping the bottom of the barrel. Fant has played at least 40 snaps in each game that Denver has played and is fifth on the team in targets after both running backs and the two starting wide receivers. The ceiling is not extremely high against Tennessee but you can be confident that at least he will be on the field.
Tyler Higbee – Despite missing a game, Tyler Higbee has 18 targets in four games and is tied with Brandin Cooks and Gerald Everett for second on the team in touchdown receptions with a lowly one. I am not rushing to the waiver wire to get Higbee but in his healthy games, he has been over 45 snaps in all of them and this Rams/49ers game features the teams first and fourth-ranked in game-script adjusted pace. That should provide some extra plays for the likes of secondary players such as Higbee.
Defense/Special Teams Fantasy Football Streamers
Structural DST Streaming Philosophy: The core tenants of finding a good streaming defense are finding a home defense that is going to face a lot of passing attempts. While your league settings might differ, in general, what we are chasing is sacks, turnovers and the main goal is finding DST touchdowns. DST touchdowns happen most often on passing plays as opposed to rushing plays.
Washington – Every other defense that has faced the Miami Dolphins has been one of the top streaming picks of the week so why wouldn’t Washington? Even a bad defense is better than the Dolphins. In terms of expected points, net adjusted yards per attempt allowed or QB pressures, you really are not going to find a team worse than the Washington professional football team so I will not blame you if you want to skip on playing them. However, the Dolphins are yet to score multiple touchdowns in any game and they turned the ball over multiple times in all games except for the Chargers game.
Denver Broncos – If you would rather play a classically #good defense, the Broncos at home to the Titans is another spot that I will be chasing. After starting off the year sackless for three games, the team now has five sacks and better than league average in net adjusted yards per attempt allowed. They are starting to look like a good defense, backed up by a run-heavy offense that is going to force opposing teams into uncomfortable, pass-heavy game scripts especially when they play at home. Additionally, no quarterback in the NFL takes more sacks than Marcus Mariota who they will be facing.
If You Are Desperate: Miami Dolphins (Playing Case Keenum at home would be a +EV situation for every other team in the world so it is probably okay for a semi-pro team)
