 Week 4 is interesting all around. We have top quarterbacks with tougher matchups, Le’Veon Bell and the 49ers backs on a bye, and Stefon Diggs outside the Top-36 at wide receiver. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. At this point in the season, you have a solid idea of your team’s strengths and weaknesses, waiver moves you should be making, and trades you should be entertaining. Enjoy one of the final weeks of Austin Ekeler as a Top-5 running back and welcome back, Melvin Gordon!

QB

I recognize the Rams defense has been amazing this season, allowing the third-fewest Fantasy points to quarterbacks this season but there should be a ton of pass volume for Jameis Winston here. Winston is coming off a monster performance against the Giants, throwing for 380 yards and three touchdowns, albeit against the worst defense in the NFL. The talent goes up tremendously against the Rams but with the Bucs getting 10 points in this game, Winston will be forced to pass. A little further down the rankings, you’ll notice Kyle Allen making another start in place of Cam Newton. Allen is coming off a four-touchdown performance against the Cardinals and will now face the Texans who are allowing the sixth-most Fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. The Texans have now allowed over 300 passing yards and multiple TD passes in two of three games to Philip Rivers and Drew Brees. All Allen has to do is get the ball in the hands of his playmakers, and we know he has plenty of them in DJ Moore, Curtis Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, and Greg Olsen.

I liked Devonta Freeman in a bounce-back spot last week against the Indianapolis Colts and guess what? I like Josh Jacobs in the same spot this week. The Colts are allowing the fifth-most Fantasy points to running backs this season, including a robust 5.42 yards per carry. The Colts are currently dealing with a lot of injuries to their defense, most notably Darius Leonard who helps against the run. The Raiders are getting seven points, which typically doesn’t bode well for running backs but Jon Gruden did mention this week that he wants to get Jacobs more involved as a pass-catcher. If Miles Sanders can just hold onto the football, he’s in a great spot against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football. Sanders is coming off a game where he totaled 126 yards on 15 touches against the Detroit Lions. So far this season the Packers are allowing over five yards per carry and 8.67 receptions per game to running backs, the most in the NFL. Buy-low on Sanders now if you can before tonight.

WR

For the wide receiver position, I’ll go a little deeper for some WR3s in Marquez-Valdes Scantling and Paul Richardson. MVS is coming off a monster game where he went 6-99-1 on 10 targets (38-percent target share). I do expect Davante Adams to get going tonight as well, but there should be enough to go around for both. The Packers are facing the Eagles who are allowing the fourth-most Fantasy points to wide receivers thus far and will be without their top cornerback Ronald Darby. They’ve allowed at least one touchdown to a wide receiver in each of the first three weeks. I never thought I’d be hoping for Case Keenum to be healthy enough to play but here we are in Week 4 of the 2019 season. Keenum is dealing with a foot injury but if he starts against the Giants, Paul Richardson is in a prime position. The Giants are allowing the second-most Fantasy points to the position and just allowed Mike Evans to go off for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Richardson is not Evans but he did just go 8-83-1 on nine targets against the Chicago Bears.

TE

Since TJ Hockenson went off for 6-131-1 in Week 1, he has two catches for eight yards. He should be able to get back on track against the Chiefs who are allowing the most targets (12.67) and receptions (8.67) per game to opposing tight ends. With the Lions +6.5 in this matchup, they should be playing from behind. Believe it or not, the Chiefs have actually been solid against wide receivers this year. If they are again in Week 4, that means Hockenson will have to be more involved in the offense.
