Best Ball Championship, teams are eligible to draft right up until the kickoff of Week 5!

The $250,000 WEEK 5 BEST BALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Week 5 Best Ball Championship is a $250,000 season-long tournament that starts Week 5 of the NFL Season.

Here’s how it works: You draft anytime prior to Week 5 kick off on October 3rd. This will be your team for the 12 remaining Regular Season weeks, there is no re-draft at any point. The Draft will be 18 rounds with a 30-second pick clock. Entry fee is $33 and you are capped at 150 entries. The tournament is broken into 3 phases, the Regular Season, Playoffs, and Finals. The Regular Season will be 12 person contests running from Week 5 through Week 12.

Win your 12 person contest and advance to The Playoffs which will be a 3-week tournament of 12 person contests running through Weeks 13, 14, and 15. You must place in the top 3 to advance from each week of The Playoffs. Make it through all 3 weeks of the playoffs and advance to The Finals where 12 teams will face off Week 16 for the $50,000 top prize.

The “Scoring Roster” is the same as the preseason drafts as well: 1 QB • 2 RB • 3 WR • 1 TE • 1 FLEX. For those of you needing a little refresher on Best Ball Strategy, you can go back to our ULTIMATE Guide To Best Ball Drafting. Our strategy for this Best Ball Championship is going to be almost identical to our strategy for the pre-season Best Ball Championships.

Key Strategy Tenants For The Draft Week 5 Best Ball Championship

-Make sure to focus on creating QB/WR stacks as much as possible. This both increases your upside in the event that you land in the Championship round but also provides you with a number of spiked weeks along the way which gives you the max amount of points possible.

-Avoid hyper-fragile running backs who only get points in one way. This means both James White/Tarik Cohen types but also Derrick Henry/Sony Michel style running backs that have to score touchdowns to have any sort of fantasy value. If you followed the Hybrid Zero-RB framework that was laid out in our ULTIMATE Guide to Zero RB Drafting, then this should be very familiar to you. There is really only a handful of running backs having good-to-great fantasy football seasons while there is an utter plethora of wide receivers who are beating their preseason Average Draft Position. This has made the elite running backs even more valuable than they were in the preseason and has made it even more obvious that the right strategy is to be really stocking up on wide receivers and the good tight ends in the middle rounds.

-Despite the heroics of Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes and Dak Prescott, late-round quarterbacking remains the proper strategy. In fact, some of the variance has been taken out of the strategy  by the shortened time frame and the fact that a few of the shakier situations (New York in particular) have already shaken out so you can be building stacks in this tournament in way that you couldn’t in the preseason Best Ball Championship.

-In general, our best advice to you is pretty simple: continue to draft players who are going to offer great weekly ceilings, play in good offenses and trust the projections/rankings that we have worked meticulously to create.

We have the ADP for the Week 5 DRAFT Best Ball Championship HERE! Being able to track that with our rankings and projections is going to provide you a massive leg up on the people you are drafting against, as the results of the drafts show that most people thus far are simply drafting on their gut reactions to what has happened in the first three weeks.
