Well, the streak has ended. 11 weeks straight, I provided picks that gave members winners. It had to end at some point, didn’t it? Today marks 3 months since I started doing these weekly picks, and I’m happy to say, 1 bad weekend in 3 months isn’t really all that bad. After all, I’m still happy with the picks I made last week:
I picked Aston Villa to win at Villa Park against a tired and worn out Everton squad. Everton were the not the better side on the day and were extremely fortunate to walk away with a point. West Brom and Norwich cashed in on the over. Then, the Milan derby came around. Unfortunately for us, Allegri was given a new contract, Pato was started (to dismiss rumors of the move to PSG?) and Inter Milan were the better side. As a fan of Serie A and Inter, I was happy to see that result, so I couldn’t be that upset. Now, it’s time to make some more picks and enter Month 4 of my Analyst Picks Series…
Even going 1-2 with a -110 unit loss, my expert picks are still +2,386 for a total profit of 477% from the original 500 units required for the weekend these picks started. The overall record is now 32-13, 71%.
Top 4 Picks for the Weekend of 20th January, 2012
(This week's picks: 1 Free Premier League, 2 Bundesliga & 1 Serie A)
1: Queens Park Rangers v Wigan Athletic: QPR to win at 2.05
QPR lost in a thriller last weekend. With new manager Mark Hughes set to host his first Premier League match at Loftus Road, his players should be anxious to show the new manager their abilities. Joey Barton is expected to return to the squad after missing out last weekend, and for all the controversy he causes, Barton is a decent midfielder. Also, Wigan are hardly a team to strike fear. AccuScore calculated QPR to win 62.3% of the time versus just 47.8% by the bookmakers. Thus, there is value on this pick, and it’s hard to argue against that.

2: Kaiserslautern v Werder Bremen: Under 2.5 or 3
This is a trends pick. AcuScore is 2-1 when finding value on picking under with Werder Bremen. Also, AccuScore are 12-1 when picking under with Kaiserslautern. That second bit is what makes this a hot trend pick. Yes, Claudio Pizarro is one to watch for Bremen, but this is purely a trends pick.
3: TSG Hoffenheim v Hannover 96: Hoffenheim to win at 1.952
Karim Higgui and Didier Ya Knan are both at the Africa Cup of Nations for Hannover. Throw in the fact that Hoffenheim have a far healthier squad than Hannover and Hoffenheim are playing at the WIRSOL Rhein-Necker Arena, where they have only lost once all season (an August 27 loss to Bremen), and this is a good value pick. Hannover are without Carlitos, Schultz and Sergio Pinto among others. Hoffenheim are without Vorsah and Compper due to suspension, but AccuScore still finds value in making this pick.

Don’t forget to tune into Manchester United v Arsenal and Tottenham v Manchester City as 4 of the top 5 in England prepare to do battle! Also, Spain has a couple tough fixtures as Madrid meet Bilbao and Barcelona travel to Malaga.
