1. Calvin Johnson (DET): Atop the wide NFL fantasy top five receivers is Calvin Johnson, the talented number one option of Matthew Stafford. Last week, Johnson proved why he’s an elite wide receiver, catching six passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns. This week, he will be up against a Chiefs defense that looked foolish, giving up four touchdowns through the air against the Bills. Expect Johnson to impress yet again. Projected NFL fantasy points: 14.2.
2. Andre Johnson (HOU): Johnson number two on our list also had a big first week. Andre Johnson caught 7 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown against the Colts. And like Calvin at number one, Andre is going up against a defense that was torn apart in the passing game in week 1, the Miami Dolphins. Obviously Texans quarterback Matt Schaub is no Tom Brady, but he’s good enough to make sure that Johnson gets his stats in week 2. Projected fantasy football points: 12.3.
3. Dez Bryant (DAL):In week 1, Dez Bryant had a good game (three catches, 71 yards and a touchdown) against a superb defense in the New York Jets. His week 2 competition will be much less difficult as he’ll be facing the San Francisco 49ers’ defense. The Niners defense isn’t awful, but should have trouble containing Tony Romo, so expect Bryant to put up similar numbers, at least, this week. Projected fantasy points: 11.8.
4. Greg Jennings (GB):After scoring at will against the New Orleans Saints in week 1, Jennings and the Packers will go up against the Carolina Panthers in week 2. Last week, the Panthers defense couldn’t stop Kevin Kolb and the Cardinals, which is a good sign for Jennings and Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers can pick apart any defense and Jennings is his favorite target, so expect another solid game from the veteran wide receiver. Projected fantasy points: 11.7.
5. DeSean Jackson (PHI): The Cal product performed as expected in week 1. He caught six passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. If you read the top 5 QB list you know that Vick is forecasted to have a great game against the Atlanta Falcons, which means plenty of receptions for his favorite target. Jackson is always a threat for a big touchdown pass or kick return, so expect some impressive stats in week 2. Projected fantasy points: 11.3.
