Denver Broncos: Tim Tebow gets a lot of press for Denver’s recent success, but the team’s defense deserves as much credit as the quarterback. The Broncos have given up more than 20 points just three times in the past seven games. Denver’s defense will have a great game against a Chicago quarterback that has thrown six picks in the last two games. Projected fantasy points: 24.8. 2. Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers’ defense is the fourth ranked team in points allowed at 16.3 points per game. What makes them second on this list is their opponent in week 14, namely the Cleveland Browns. The Browns’ offense has struggled all year and shouldn’t put up much of a fight. Projected fantasy points: 23.7. 3. Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens handled the Browns and the 49ers in their last two games, giving up a combined 16 points. The Ravens, who give up just 16.0 points per game, are facing the winless Colts on Sunday. The Ravens D is a must start. Projected fantasy points: 23.5. 4. San Francisco 49ers: San Francisco has the top ranked defense in points allowed, giving up just 13.4 points per game. Last week the Niners shut out the Rams on their way to clinching a playoff spot. This week they play the Cardinals, which should spell another good fantasy day for the 49ers defense. Projected fantasy points: 20.0. 5. New York Jets: The Jets’ defense has not been as good this season as it was expected to be, especially in giving up more than 100 rushing yards per game. Luckily for fantasy owners the Jets play the Chiefs on Sunday. Kansas City’s offense has struggled all year, and that is likely to continue against New York. Projected fantasy points: 17.9. Not top 5, but could be: This week’s defense that missed the cut but is in position to outperform expectations is that of the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle is coming off a big home win against Philadelphia, where it held Vince Young and company to just 14 points. This week the Seahawks play the Rams. The home field advantage is going to give them the edge they need to shut down the struggling Rams. Projected fantasy points: 16.4.
