San Francisco 49ers at St. Louis Rams: Monday Night

The 3-2 San Francisco 49ers head into Week 6 to face a St. Louis Rams squad that has recorded just one sack all season and is still yet to win a home game. SF quarterback Colin Kaepernick should be able to get all the looks he wants on Monday with the Rams' secondary struggling all season. There hasn't been much protection in the back and the pass rush has largely been non-existent also.

For St. Louis, it'll be up to Austin Davis and Brian Quick to keep the game within striking distance. Davis has a strong and accurate arm, showing the knack to making something out of nothing on a number of plays. He's had some trouble reading the blitz, but that's expected from an inexperienced QB like Davis.

Will the Niners revert back to being the not-as-successful pass-happy unit, or will they keep pounding the ball on the ground with running back Frank Gore?

What to Watch For

Turnovers: Coming off of two fumbles last week, the No. 1 concern this week for Rams QB Austin Davis will be ball control. He hasn’t had a start against a top-ranked defense, so this week against SF will give a real taste of what Davis is capable of. In the 33 percent of simulations where the Rams win, Davis averages 1.1 TD passes vs 0.34 interceptions; in losses, he averages just 0.62 TDs to 0.55 interceptions. Davis has to get off to a strong start on Monday. He’s projected to finish with 186 yards and a passer rating of 65.7.

Not a Good Trend: The Rams have lost five consecutive MNF games, the longest such streak in the NFL. Maybe this Monday will be the one that changes the trend. But for that to happen, DR Robert Quinn needs to get back to his play from last year. After 19 sacks in 2013-2014, Quinn has none so far.
