The Cowboys continue to look solid on paper, but the results have yet to translate fully on the field in the Tony Romo era. The quarterback played just five games last season, and yet the team arguably played better without him going 5-5 down the stretch (1-5 to start).

Dallas still clearly has the talent to make the playoffs, and it will be up to first-time head coach Jason Garrett to make it happen. Garrett has long been a favorite of Jerry Jones and been hailed as some sort of prodigy. Now he has the opportunity to prove it. AccuScore preseason projections have the Cowboys winning 9 games with a 23 percent chance of winning the NFC East. They have just about a 50-50 chance of making the postseason.

The team made a few moves to shore up the running game drafting offensive tackle Tyron Smith 9th overall and running back DeMarco Murray in the third round. A fullback was also picked after Dallas ranked right in the middle of the pack in rushing. In the end, however, most of the pressure comes down to Romo and Garrett.
