World Cup - Group Stage Recap
In the blink of an eye, 48 out of 64 games have been already played in World Cup. Most of the games have been played without big surprises, but naturally Germany’s failure to qualify for the knockout phase was a big shock. This was one out of three teams that AccuScore predicted to advance past the group stages, but the 2014 champs just couldn’t do it. The other two teams AccuScore missed on were Serbia, that was defeated by Switzerland 2-1, and Poland, that failed to show up for the first two matches. All in all, 13 out of 16 teams were correct in predictions to qualify from the group stage.
When measuring prediction accuracy by betting wins, all markets were profitable during group stage. Side value bets provided best profits with 902 dollars when 100 bucks were placed on every side value we were showing. We are on pace to beat the records from the previous World Cup, where side value bets generated over 1200 dollars for our customers.
Total bets profit after group stage were 556 dollars with 100 dollars per wager. This was trending nicely upwards from the start, but few games from the group stages were under due to tactical play where scoring wasn’t the most important target in the final group stage games. Also, moneyline bets provides some profit with 136 dollars in your pocket when betting favorite for every game.
With nearly 50 matches worth of relevant game data added to the simulations, AccuScore's computers should only push on and improve from here.
