Projected Top 5 NFL Fantasy Tight Ends: Week 17 Projected Top 5 NFL Fantasy Tight Ends: Week 17 By Bart Lopez With the NFL playoffs coming up now is the best time to sign up for an ALL-ACCESS membership. All the game previews and in-depth analyses for college football, college basketball, soccer, and NFL games will be at your fingertips. 1. Rob Gronkowski (NE): Gronkowski has been a beast all year. Here is his stat line: 82 receptions for 1,219 yards and 15 touchdowns. Those are absolutely ridiculous numbers that definitely warrant the top spot. Projected fantasy points: 13.0. 2. Jimmy Graham (NO): Graham has had an incredible season, but has been overshadowed by the Gronk in New England. Graham has caught 91 passes for 1,213 yards and ten touchdowns. He is a great fantasy tight end and a must start. Projected fantasy points: 10.0. 3. Aaron Hernandez (NE): It’s absolutely incredible that the second best tight end on New England caught 72 passes on the season for 772 yards and six touchdowns. Hernandez didn’t do much against Miami, but is capable of big numbers any given Sunday. Projected fantasy points: 9.1. 4. Tony Gonzalez (ATL): Gonzalez had a subpar game against the Saints, catching five passes for 41 yards. Atlanta is already in the playoffs, but will look to finish strong against a bad Tampa Bay team. Expect Gonzalez to put up decent numbers this week. Projected fantasy points: 8.7. 5. Antonio Gates (SD): This Sunday’s game is big as the AFC west is up for grabs. San Diego will need production from Gates against the Raiders, which makes him a solid starter. Projected fantasy points: 8.3. Not top 5, but could be: This week’s tight end that missed the cut is Dallas’ Jason Witten. Dallas needs a win. Jason Witten is Romo’s go-to-guy, and will have to play well if they want to beat the Giants. I’m expecting one of his better games of the season this week. Projected fantasy points: 7.8.
