What to Watch For: University of Kentucky is just six wins away from an undefeated 40-0 season - can anyone stop them? The biggest threat to UK - at least from this region - has to be No. 3 Notre Dame. AccuScore gives ND about an 11 percent chance of advancing all the way to the Final Four, compared to the 47 percent assigned to UK. No. 2 Kansas in the same region is given below a 7 percent chance of advancing to the Final Four.
Potential Sleeper: No. 11 Texas at 100:1 odds of winning the whole thing. AccuScore gives Texas about a 63 percent chance of winning their opening round matchup, about a 29 percent chance of advancing to the Sweet 16 and a 14 percent chance of making it to the Elite 8. Texas hasn't been very impressive all season, but the depth on that roster makes them dangerous in a tournament like this. They got into a shooting rhythm late in the season, have the size to matchup with any team in the field, and should be primed for a huge Sweet 16 matchup with Kansas.
Potential 1st Round Upsets: Both West Virginia and Buffalo's probability of advancing past the first round is fairly comparable, 53 percent of WVU compared to Buffalo's 47 percent. Not only is Bobby Hurley the Bull's coach, which by itself should have some merit given Hurley's impact on the game, but they have the necessary pieces to match up properly against a West Virginia roster known to put pressure on opposing guards.
Keep an eye on the No. 13 - No. 5 matchup in this region between Valparaiso and Maryland. Maryland, while they have more than enough talent to make a push in this tournament, isn't a squad that necessarily blows opponents away. If Valparaiso can somehow contain Dez Wells, they'll be in a situation to steal the game late.

Player to Watch: While Kentucky clearly boasts a majority of the NBA talent in the region, keep an eye on Notre Dame's Jerian Grant. He gets up 11-plus per game, a number that should increase as the tournament goes on. He's had some of his biggest games against opponents like North Carolina and Michigan State, and should provide plenty of production and highlights for ND in the tourney.
