Euro 2016 Quarterfinals: Germany Still Best Bet
AccuScore got 5 of its 8 quarter-finalists correct, as both Italy and Iceland raised a few eyebrows in their upset victories over Spain and England. However, we cannot help but note that the computer had value picks on both Italy and Iceland for those two matches, and AccuScore's value picks actually proved to be correct in 7 of the 8 Round of 16 matches. The computer was wrong about Portugal in terms of value and straight up, and we'll live with getting one game wrong out of eight.

The biggest shock of the Round of 16 was Iceland's victory over England, but Iceland was a team the computer picked to advance to the knockout rounds prior to the start of the group stages. So, the computer wasn't entirely caught off guard by England losing, even if the English were.

For the quarterfinals, the computer is predicting that Belgium and France will advance with ease. While Portugal and Poland is a closer encounter, the Portuguese are also clear picks to advance. Germany, however, only projects to advance by the slightest of margins. Italy has been a stout opponent, and the Italian backline, along with Antonio Conte's tactics offers the Germans a tough challenge.
In the semifinals, the computer projects Belgium to take full advantage of its easy route and advance to the final. Germany, on the other hand, has another tough date with France. Again, the margin is narrow, but the Germans expect to possess the depth required to complete the task and arrive in the Euro 2016 Final.
In the final, AccuScore's computer continues to stick with Germany. The computer picked Germany prior to the tournament and also at the start of the knockout rounds. It won't be easy, but Germany remains AccuScore's best bet for Euro 2016.
