Celtic all the way - again

Another football season is about to begin in Scotland and there is not much new under the sun – Glasgow Celtic once again captured the title last season, making it sixth in a row and are again the biggest favorites come new season. Much anticipated, renewed rivalry with Glasgow Rangers left a lot to be desired for, as the Rangers finished some 33 points behind Celtics and only placed third after Aberdeen’s fantastic season.

The trio of Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen are once again deemed to stay on top of the SPFL, with the unlikely challenge of Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibernians as well as St. Johnstone.

According to Accuscore’s simulations the assessment of oddsmakers seem to be quite on spot. The top three teams are likely to run away early on, leaving the above mentioned challengers along with Motherwell, Kilmarnock and Ross County to fight for the final three places in Championship phase.

At the bottom of the table, Accuscore’s simulations place Hamilton Academical, who are the most likely to go down. Partick Thislte and Dundee are in relegation battle as well, with only a couple of points division.

Accuscore’s season simulations predict the standings as follows after the 33 games of Premiership, before division into Championship and Qualification groups. The final order is likely to stay the same after the finishing five games are played.

Celtic are still the clear cut favorites, with Glasgow and Aberdeen playing the second fiddle. Relegation battle could be close, as well as the battle for final three Championship group placements – and prospect of European football.
