Ovechkin Scores, Crosby Sits Ovechkin Scores, Crosby Sits By Bart Lopez Is the Mighty Ducks your favorite movie? Then you probably love hockey, so sign up for an ALL-ACCESS membership. In addition to hockey forecasts, picks, and information on every NHL game, you will also get game previews and analysis for every college basketball, college football, soccer, and NFL game. Alex Ovechkin found the back of the net Wednesday night against the Ottawa Senators. The Washington Capitals won the game 5-3 by scoring four goals in the third period. Ovechkin netted a slap shot for the Caps early in the third period, which was his first goal in a win since November 11. The question has been all over ESPN and it’s also on my mind: was this contest a turnaround game for Ovechkin and the Caps? Moving on from promising news to worrisome news, Sidney Crosby is sitting out the next two games after taking a hard hit against the Boston Bruins. Crosby was leveled, got up slowly, and left the game only to return later. Pittsburgh’s general manager Ray Shero is quoted as saying Crosby isn’t feeling 100 percent and that missing two games is a precaution. Penguins fans around the world are holding their breaths. In other injury news, Calgary backup goalie Henrik Karlsson has a torn ligament in his right knee and will be out six to eight weeks. The Flames brought back Leland Irving to replace Karlsson as Miikka Kiprusoff’s backup. I don’t expect our forecasts to change very much if at all for Calgary games, but it’s something to keep an eye on. There are 12 games tonight, and plenty of opportunities to make some good picks. I’ve made three picks this week, but you’ll only be able to check them out if you’re a member. So sign up for an ALL-ACCESS membership. If you’re already a member, sign in and enjoy.
