1. Michael Vick (PHI): Michael Vick takes the top spot this week after Philadelphia’s second win of the season in week six against Washington. Vick had a decent game, throwing for 237 yards and rushing for 54 yards. He has underperformed all year, but is always capable of putting up great numbers. This week the Eagles play the Cowboys. Expect Vick to finish the game with at least two passing touchdowns. Projected fantasy points: 22.3.
2. Drew Brees (NO): To say Brees had a great game last week is the understatement of the century. In a game that the Saints won 62-7, Brees threw for 325 yards and five touchdowns. The guy had only four passing attempts hit the ground. This week the Saints face a winless Rams team that is, at best, mediocre defensively. Brees is going to have another great game. Projected fantasy points: 20.6.
3. Cam Newton (CAR): In week seven, Newton had his best game of the season in terms of quarterback rating. He finished with a rating of 127.5 after throwing for 256 yards and a touchdown. Newton continues to improve and is working his way into the top tier of quarterbacks. This Sunday he faces a Vikings defense that had struggled all year against the pass. Expect Newton to play well at home. Projected fantasy points: 20.0.
4. Tim Tebow (DEN): Yes your eyes don’t deceive you. Tim Tebow is in the top five this week after an incredible fourth quarter comeback against the Dolphins. Tebow won’t put up very impressive passing numbers, but with running back Willis McGahee out after hand surgery, expect Tebow to get more rushing attempts. I wouldn’t be surprised if he passes and throw for one touchdown each. Projected fantasy points: 19.9.
5. Tom Brady (NE): The Patriots entered their week seven bye on a three game winning streak. This weekend New England hosts Pittsburgh in a highly anticipated AFC matchup. The Steelers hold opponents to the fewest passing yards in the league, but Tom Brady and company always find a way to exploit weaknesses. Expect Brady to spread out the Steelers and to have another solid game. Projected fantasy points: 19.2.
Not top 5, but could be: This week’s quarterback that missed the cut but I expect to exceed expectations is Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger. He is coming off a great game against the Cardinals. Big Ben threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns in the win. The New England secondary has struggled all year and gives up the most passing yards in the league. Projected fantasy points: 19.0.
