1. Aaron Rodgers (GB): Would you look at that? Aaron Rodgers is the top projected fantasy quarterback yet again. Last week was business as usual for the king of the cheeseheads. Rodgers threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns. The Packers offense has imposed its will on every team it has faced, and I expect them to continue to dominate against the Vikings this week. Projected fantasy points: 23.1.

2. Cam Newton (CAR): Your eyes don’t deceive you. Cam Newton, a rookie quarterback, takes the second spot on this week’s quarterback list. What makes Newton so valuable is not just his passing ability, but his running game. He has six rushing touchdowns and 210 yards rushing on the season. The Panthers face a tough Redskins defense this week, but Newton has performed all season against tough defenses, so don’t expect his usual numbers. Projected fantasy points: 20.8.

3. Matthew Stafford (DET): Starscream is third on the list after a solid performance in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Stafford threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions are playing the Atlanta Falcons at home in week 7. The Falcons defense is ranked 27th in opponent passing yards so expect Stafford to again throw for around 300 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Projected fantasy points: 19.5.

4. Drew Brees (NO): Breezy had his worst game of the season last week on the road against the Bucs. The Saints quarterback finished with 383 yards passing, one touchdown, and three interceptions. Luckily for fantasy owners, the Saints are playing the Colts next, which should be a great opportunity for Brees to bounce back with a great game. Projected fantasy points: 19.2.

5. Tony Romo (DAL): Tony Romo rounds out the list after another week of decent numbers in a loss. Romo threw for 317 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Like Brees, Romo is fortunate that his next opponent is relatively weak competition in the St. Louis Rams. The winless Rams give up 27.4 points per game, so this week looks good for Romo fantasy owners. Projected fantasy points: 18.3.

Not top 5, but could be: This week’s quarterback that just missed the cut is Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben had a decent game last week against a good Jacksonville defense throwing for 200 yards and a touchdown. This week he will be facing a mediocre Cardinals defense that gives up over 250 yards passing per game. I think Ben will exceed expectations. Projected fantasy points: 14.7.
