Big 10: College Football Preview 2015

It's finally football season. For much of the offseason, discussion surrounding the Big Ten focused primarily on Ohio State and who would win the coveted starting QB job. Whether it's J.T. Barrett or Cardale Jones that ultimately leads the Buckeyes to the media-expected undefeated regular season record, the fact of the matter is that Ohio State is a notch above the rest in this conference.

Watch out though - AccuScore doesn’t project an undefeated record.

Outside of the country waiting to see if Ohio State can live up to the expectations, it's the Jim Harbaugh-Michigan storyline that has everyone buzzing. With a strong defense and a running game that can be relied on with the likes of Derrick Green and De'Veon Smith, Harbaugh's biggest struggle will be the QB position. The offensive line ranked No. 96 in the nation last season in sacks allowed percentage - Harbaugh must address this early on or the season could turn ugly quick.

Big Ten West Division: Whether we're talking about Nebraska (Mike Riley) or Wisconsin (Paul Chryst) as the favorite in this division, the winner of the Big Ten West Division will most likely feature a winner with a debut coach.

Conference Games to Watch

Michigan State @ Ohio State: Looking ahead at the season schedule, the Michigan State-Ohio State game on Nov. 21 is easily the Big Ten matchup of the season. Both sides will be in the playoff hunt, potentially also vying for an undefeated season. Last season’s playoff push really started after OSU upset MSU, with the Spartans being ranked five spots higher at the time (No. 14 vs No. 9). How this season ultimately unfolds could have a great deal to do with how this game plays out.

Michigan @ Penn State: While the Big Ten really is a two-team race, let's not forget about the programs at Michigan and Penn State.

AccuScore projects Michigan as 60 percent favorites to win this matchup. The average score in simulations was 26-21.
