2015-16 NBA Season Futures: Projects For Every Team

The 2015-16 NBA season is afoot, and on the eve of the new season, AccuScore pulled out the calculator and booted up the super computer to project out which teams look like they’ll finish at the top of each conference and which teams are headed for an especially cold winter.

2015-16 NBA Eastern Conference Futures

AccuScore has expert picks for every NBA game this season…NBA Expert Picks Opening Night

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the best team in the conference by a great distance. In fact, the Cavs expect to coast to 59 wins with the Atlanta Hawks nine games back and the Chicago Bulls a full 11 games back in the Central Division. Part of why the Hawks have such high standing is that they play in a weaker division than the Bulls.

In the East, being .500 is almost a guaranteed ticket to the playoffs, so the Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors project to join the Cavs, Bulls and Hawks for the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Top Over/Under Season Totals Bets:
Boston Celtics: Under 44.5 wins
Brooklyn Nets: Over 27.5 wins

2015-16 Western Conference Projections

Unlike the Eastern Conference where the Cavs are runaway favorites, the Western Conference promises a fight to the finish. With Kevin Durant back healthy, the Oklahoma City Thunder project to win 52 games, win the North West Division. Not surprisingly, that record is not good enough to win the conference, but what is surprising is that the Thunder project to have the fourth best record in the West.

The Pacific Division grows even more competitive with the LA Clippers adding pieces like Paul Pierce and Josh Smith, and the Clippers and Warriors are both projected for 54 wins. The Warriors hold a minor edge in simulations, but both teams are neck and neck.

The big additions of LaMarcus Aldridge and David West to the San Antonio Spurs have the Spurs as the slight favorites out West. James Harden and the Houston Rockets expect to flirt with 50 wins, but the Spurs project to finish as the best team out West.

As it stands, the Spurs, Rockets, Warriors, Clippers and Thunder expect to collect the top five spots. Memphis, New Orleans, Dallas, Portland and Phoenix will fight for the final three spots with the Grizzlies, Pelicans and Blazers. Though the Lakers expect to be better off than a season ago, it’s growing pains for both the Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves this season.

Top Over/Under Season Totals Bets:
Portland Trail Blazers: Over 27.5 wins
Utah Jazz: Under 42.5
