NFL Monday Night Football: Week 2
Monday Night Football takes us to Chicago in Week 2 as the Bears host the Philadelphia Eagles. There's not a lot of positive chatter surrounding the Bears on a national level, but local support - this early in the season - should propel them to a victory.
Where do the Bears have an advantage?
Chicago was a dismal 1-7 at home in 2015, but get an opportunity to go against a rookie QB in Carson Wentz.
Wentz - without a doubt - had a strong start to his career with a nice performance against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. According to ESPN Stats & Info., Wentz was 8-of-8 for 94 yards with no sacks when the Browns blitzed.
Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, though, will do everything possible to not give up this opportunity at home.
What do the sims say about Philly's QB? Wentz is projected to finish with nearly the same number of TDs as INTs - 0-to-1 each. He averages about 0.6 TDs and 0.4 INTs per sim, finishing with about 172 yards and a passer rating of 56.7.
Best Bet(s)
At the time of publication, the Bears are favorited about 3.5 points, give or take a half point in either direction depending on where you get the odds. Simulation data has Chicago covering that spread in over 58 percent of simulations.
The hot trend pick in this matchup, though, is on the TOTAL. The average score after 10,000-plus simulations is 22.8 - 16.3, with the total combined score staying UNDER 42 in nearly 61 percent of simulations.
Betting Trend: The total has gone UNDER in 4 of the Bears' last six games at home.
