Boise State Broncos 2011 Season Preview Boise State Broncos 2011 Season Preview The Boise State Broncos Boise State now moves the Mountain West, which means we will get a gem of a game on November 12th when TCU comes to town. Playing for the third time in four years, it’s about time these two teams played with something at stake, rather then the meaningless trophy that comes with winning an exhibition bowl game. The Boise State season got off to a great start in January when quarterback Kellen Moore announced that he would be coming back for his senior season. With Moore guiding the offense, Boise State put up amazing numbers and were among the most prepared football teams in the country. They are going to have to rely on preparation and game planning this year with Austin Pettis and Titus Young moving on. Boise State will focus more on Doug Martin to anchor their running game until Moore finds a comfort level with his new receivers. The most telling thing about how far Boise State has come showed itself when they played Virginia Tech in their opener last year in Washington D.C. While the offense gets all the headlines, the story is the Broncos defense who dominated the line of scrimmage against a name brand program from one of the BCS power conferences. That is why Boise State is always a compelling team to watch while betting on college football. A stout defense that is by no means an underdog will help Boise State dominate an otherwise week schedule. However, many still maintain Boise State doesn’t belong with the big boys and they will get their chance to show if they do early when they travel to the Georgia Dome to play the Georgia Bulldogs. It'll be interesting to see who the college football pick is for that game. Mountain West Title Hopes Boise State’s schedule gets dramatically tougher from their previous year’s in the WAC. The middle tier of the Mountain West will provide tougher competition for the Broncos, but no real threats. The home schedule is favorable with games against Tulsa, Nevada, Air Force and TCU. The only conference road challenges will be their November trips to UNLV and San Diego Stat, where they will be roughly a 70-percent favorite in each. Currently there are no odds available for the Mountain West, but there are only two real choices. TCU and Boise State are the class of the conference with the early advantage siding with the Broncos. Boise State gains the early advantage because 1) they return Kellen Moore and TCU lost Andy Daulton 2) the game will be played on the “smurf turf” in Boise. It's still too early to tell but Boise State will likely be the expert pick in that game. NCAA Football Previews .
