2016 NFL Playoffs Picture

There is four weeks left in the NFL regular season. While Dallas has already clinched their post season slot and others like New England, Oakland and Seattle are just about to do it, there is a great battle between many other teams to secure their place in the post-season.

Accuscore has simulated weekly basis rest of the season and we still feel very comfortable with our pre season super bowl pick: New England vs. Seattle. Even though Seattle has current record of 8-3, their chances to reach playoffs are over 96%. Same number for Patriots is 98.6%. But let’s take a look first to other sports in AFC.

Oakland Raiders are sitting on the top of the ranks with same record as New England. Oakland will face tough opponents in AFC West and will be second seed after next four games. Predicted wild card teams come both from AFC West as Kansas City and Denver will have good chances to reach playoffs - 91% and 64 % - respectively.

AFC North is a two horse race. Pittsburgh has currently 66% chances to get into playoffs and Baltimore’s chances with same record currently are just under 38%. Another team that could squeeze into fight for the last wild card spot is Miami Dolphins, but these hopes are very much relying on Mike Shanahan- type of meltdown by Denver Broncos.

AFC South won’t produce any wild carders, but the competition to win division is fierce. Indianapolis, Houston and Tennessee all have same record, but it seems that Texans and Colts have better chances to take it all with 37% probability. Titans currently have a probability of 29% to win division and reach playoffs.

AFC seeding:
1. Patriots
2. Raiders
3. Steelers
4. Texans
5. Chiefs
6. Broncos

In the NFC West the picture is pretty clear: Seahawks will win the division and other teams will play next time in August. As mentioned Dallas has already secured the place in the playoffs, but NFC East will have another playoffs teams as New York Giants is predicted to get first wild card spot with 10 wins at the end of the season.

Most probably another wild card team comes from NFC South, where Atlanta has the highest probabilities to win the division, but Tampa Bay will finish strong second and takes last spot in the sun. NFC North has recently produced few playoffs teams, but now it looks like it will be surprising Detroit Lions that is the lone NFC North team in the playoffs. This means that Minnesota and Green Bay will start their winter holiday after week 17. Currently their respective chances for post-season are 22% and 26%, while Buccaneers has 50% probability to the playoffs. Washington Redskins could also make their mark as their current post-season probability is 38%.

NFC seeding:
1. Cowboys
2. Seahawks
3. Lions
4. Falcons
5. Giants
6. Buccaneers
