You ever go into a Fantasy Football matchup so confident and your team falls flat on its face? It’s happened to all of us. Well, those were my rankings last week. I got a lot of things wrong in Week 7 but that gives us the opportunity to learn from our mistakes. I know what you’re thinking. “Frank, why are you leading your rankings with how bad they were last week?” Well, I’ll always hold myself accountable. There are Fantasy analysts that only tell you how right they are all the time. I’m not one of those. Much like you should do in the real world, admit your mistakes, learn from them, and be better moving forward. That’s exactly what we’re doing in Week 8. Let’s jump in.

QB

Let’s get things kicked off with Thursday Night Football, shall we? Fun fact: Kirk Cousins is the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 300 yards and posted a QB rating of at least 135 in three straight games. How’s that, Adam Thielen? Since his wide receiver called him out, Cousins has been stellar. Over the past two weeks, it looks like Washington’s pass defense has played better but let’s be honest with ourselves. Last week was the mud bowl in Washington, filled with torrential rain. The week before that, Josh Rosen was so bad he was benched for Ryan Fitzpatrick. In Washington’s first five games, they allowed four different quarterbacks to throw for three touchdowns in a game. Hell, one of those was Mitchell Trubisky. I think Cousins keeps it rolling again tonight. If you need a stream because you were a Patrick Mahomes owner or you have Lamar Jackson/Dak Prescott on bye, Ryan Tannehill is in a great spot against the Bucs. Over the past month, the Bucs are allowing an average of 348 passing yards and 2.5 passing touchdowns per game. Tannehill threw for 312 yards in his debut, something Marcus Mariota did in just four of 62 career games.

RB

Figuring out this Chargers’ running back situation has been… fun. Let’s just simplify things. In the Chargers first four games without Melvin Gordon, they were 2-2, averaging 22.5 points per game. Since Gordon has returned, they’re 0-3, averaging 16.7 points per game. I’m in the camp that we see more Austin Ekeler this week and make it makes sense going up against the Bears. On the season, the Bears are allowing 7.5 receptions per game to opposing running backs, the second-most in the NFL. If you watched last week’s Chargers game or saw the highlight, Ekeler is a matchup nightmare. The guy is running stop-and-go routes no linebackers and crushing them! I’m back in on Ekeler as a RB2 in PPR leagues this week. If you need a flex running back, I’m going back to LeSean McCoy. Yes, the Chiefs have been a bad run-blocking team this season but at the same time, the Packers haven’t been able to stop anybody. They’re allowing 4.99 yards per carry to running backs this season, the most in the NFL. Considering McCoy has led the Chiefs in snaps and carries each of the past two weeks, he’s the one I’m looking at in this matchup.

WR

If you’ve been active on the waiver wire, you’ve probably already read a bunch about these players. I’ll remind you one more time before Week 8 begins because why not? Will Fuller will be out at least the next two weeks before the bye and maybe even after it. Stills is the perfect replacement for the Texans. In Stills’ first game back from injury last week, he went 4-105-0 on five targets, playing the second-most snaps among their wide receivers. In Week 8, the Texans face the Raiders who are allowing the seventh-most Fantasy points to wide receivers this season. Just last week, they allowed 11 receptions for 262 yards and three touchdowns to Packers wide receivers. Stills is a legit WR2 in this matchup. Much like Stills, Corey Davis was a hot waiver wire add this week and he should be started immediately. Davis and the Titans face the Bucs in Week 8, a defense giving up the second-most Fantasy points to wide receivers this season. In Tannehill’s first start with the Titans, Davis went 6-80-1 on a 23-percent target share, his highest of any game this season. Both Davis and A.J. Brown are in play as WR3s in the matchup with the Bucs.

TE

Tight end! Fun! Said nobody ever. This week’s stream is contingent on an injured Jared Cook. Cook is dealing with an ankle and hasn’t practiced so far this week. If he’s out, owners have to look at Josh Hill against the Arizona Cardinals. Yes, those Arizona Cardinals. They have allowed a touchdown to a tight end in every game but one this season. Without Cook last week, Hill went 3-43-1 on three targets. If Cook is out, Hill is a prime tight end stream. The same could be said about Cameron Brate if O.J Howard doesn’t play. Howard missed practice Thursday as well.
