our contacts in London and checking every social media account, I asked Siri what the temperature outside is at the moment. To my surprise, Siri started her response with, “bbbrrr… It is 49 degrees.” I had to ask her again and I got the same response. Now, I live in Nashville and it has been brutally hot all summer and I love fall, I miss fall. I miss sweaters and pumpkin spice everything, I miss making the house smell like pumpkins and my wife drinking pumpkin flavored coffee, I just miss it.

So the delight that overcame me as I searched my closet for a button down sweater was thrilling, it also dawned on me that this is the week when real football returns. Weekly Fantasy Leagues, my regular Fantasy League, gambling on games and just having something to look forward to on a Monday night or Sunday afternoon is all back. My wife loves fall, but hates this time of year because football is back and I can’t wait.

Josh Mathews will tell the world how much he loves Carlos Hyde.

Last week we examined rookie running backs in the league. I got some push back about my No. 5 rated running back overall for the season, Carlos Hyde. Now maybe I bought into his self-hyping? Hyde said at training camp that he wants to be the Number 1 rushing running back in the league. Then there was John Lynch, the 49ers GM saying that Hyde will be featured in the offense. Scheme and Offense? Kyle Shanahan has produced a Top 10 Rusher in 4 of the past 5 seasons.

So there are all those reasons, plus motivation, Hyde is in his final year of his rookie contract and playing for a new deal next year, in San Francisco or elsewhere. So before you start throwing shade about me putting Hyde at number 5, look at some of those reasons.

No one batted an eyelash at my Top 4 Le’Veon Bell, David Johnson, DeMarco Murray and LeSean McCoy because they are the top 4 or 5 on the draft board of most people. I was always told to find those gems and maybe you find them late in your draft and you don’t put Carlos Hyde at Number 5 on your board. I understand all of that, I understand value, but I think Hyde will be more valuable than one might think. Yes, the 49ers are not great, but Hyde can be.

Fortunes will be won and lost as we get ready for another season of football. Good luck to everyone in Week 1 and be sure to check out my thoughts each and every week here on RotoExperts.com!
