Giants. But savvy bettors will want to take the G-Men on the road at Jerry World.
1. Giants (+4) over Cowboys
Yes, Zeke will be in the backfield and at the disposal of Dak Prescott, which is great news. Prescott was 0-2 as a starter against the Giants and 13-0 against everyone else until a cameo in Philadelphia on New Year’s Day. Prescott also struggled against the Giants, throwing for just 392 yards, one touchdown and two picks. Dallas is also just 1-6 against the spread over their past seven against NFC foes and 7-19-1 ATS across their past 27 on field turf. Meanwhile, the Giants are 6-2 against the spread in their past eight trips to the Metroplex and 5-0 ATS across the past five in the series. The ‘dog has also barked in four of the past five battles.
2. Jaguars over Texans (+5.5)
Another club with hurricane aftermath distractions of their own, the Texans will square off against the Jaguars in Week 1. Houston was recently ravaged by Hurricane Harvey, with over 50 inches of rain causing catastrophic flooding in parts of Southeast Texas. They’ll look to give the Houston fans something to cheer about after such a trying period.
However, while the Texans are 8-2-1 against the spread in their past 11 divisional games, they have struggled against the Jaguars for whatever reason. Jacksonville has also been solid against divisional foes, posting a 9-4-1 against the spread mark across their past 14. That includes an impressive 4-1-1 against the spread mark across their past six trips to H-Town, with the ‘dog cashing in four of the past five in the series and the road team hitting the number in five of the past six.
As an added bonus, total bettors will want to pay attention. The total has gone over in five of Jacksonville’s past six against division mates while hitting in four of their past five against the Texans. As of late Tuesday night the total was 39 1/2, lowest on the Week 1 card.
