New York Jets Season Preview
The New York Jets reached the AFC title game for the 2nd season in a row and came up short for the second season in a row. Despite losing three of their last five regular season games, the Jets finished 11-5 and won the AFC Wild Card. Mark Sanchez rose to the occasion in the post season by knocking off Payton Manning and the Colts in the Wild Card round before defeating Tom Brady and the Pats to reach the AFC Championship game.

For the 2011-12 season, the Jets are projected to finish 9-7, giving them a 15 percent chance of winning the AFC East and a 42 percent probability of making the playoffs. The Jets are projected to finish second behind the New England Patriots in the AFC East and be favorites in a battle for the AFC Wild Card along with the second place team in the AFC North (either Baltimore or Pittsburg).

The Jets will hope that Mark Sanchez will continue to progress entering his third season in the league. Last year, Sanchez made better decisions following a statistically inept rookie season. In his rookie season, Sanchez threw for 2,444 yards with 12 TDs and 20 INTs. In his sophomore season, the former USC quarterback threw for 3,291 yards with 17 yards and 13 INTs. Sanchez improved in nearly every passing category: he nearly threw for nearly 1000 more yards; he increased his TDs by over 40%, his QB rating and completion percentage improved; and, most importantly, he managed his touchdowns to interceptions ratio. Considering his improvement last season, the Jets will have high hopes for Mark Sanchez for the 2011-12 season.
