Carolina Panthers Season Preview

It looks like Carolina will be the Cam Newton show. Whatever off-field issues Newton is alleged to have had at Auburn doesn't matter now that he's in the pros. It only matters what the rookie will do on the field. He will have a big task ahead of him as Carolina was by far the worst offense in the league. The Panthers actually scored 75 fewer points than any other team in the NFL in 2010.

Carolina is projected for a 6-10 record, good for last in the division. The six wins actually might be a bit optimistic as it represents a four game jump from last season, and the NFC South should be one of the most balanced divisions in the league. The difficulty of success is more accurately reflected in the playoff probability for the Panthers which stands at just six percent.

The Panthers took three defensive players immediately after Newton which means the quarterback isn't going to have much help on what was already a thin roster. Running back DeAngelo Williams was resigned to a big contract, but Jonathan Stewart will still have to reverse his personal history and stay healthy if the offense is to be productive.
