The rollercoaster season for the Knicks continues with the news that forward Amare Stoudemire will be out “indefinitely” with a bulging disc in his back.  The regular season ends on April 26 for New York so there is the real possibility Stoudemire will gone for the entirety with the playoffs also in doubt.

The Knicks have gone 6-1 under new interim coach Mike Woodson.  Now Woodson must juggle the frontcourt without Stoudemire.  That likely means more minutes for Jared Jeffries, Josh Harrellson, and possibly shifting Carmelo Anthony to the 4 for extended minutes.  With Stoudemire the Knicks were projected to win 54.7 percent of their remaining games making the playoffs 64.4 percent of the time.  Without him New York’s winning percentage drops 5.3 percent per game.  More importantly New York’s playoff probability drops more than 10 percent, down to 54.3 percent.
