NFL Football: Week 8 Preview

NFC Game of the Week: Detroit Lions @ Atlanta Falcons

A bit surprisingly, the Detroit Lions enter this week's matchup against the Atlanta Falcons led by their defense. As the offense struggles to find continuity, the defense enters Week 8 giving up an NFL-low 290.3 yards per game and ranks No. 2 in the league in points allowed (15.0).

Detroit was able to erase a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit last week against New Orleans thanks partly to safety Glover Quin's interception. Detroit QB Matthew Stafford subsequently followed with a TD drive in the final few minutes of regulation.

The Falcons just haven't seemed right as of late. They're not scoring points with ease as we're accustomed to them doing, they are turning the ball over uncharacteristically and the offensive line isn't giving QB Matt Ryan much protection.

AccuScore has the Lions as slight 50.1 percent favorites.

AFC Game of the Week: Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals

This week's Bengals-Ravens matchup is a rematch from the season opener that resulted in a 23-16 road victory by Cincinnati. One of the biggest factors this week will be the status of A.J. Green, and whether or not he'll even play. His status was still questionable as of Tuesday. Green was the recipient of a game-clinching 77-yard touchdown pass from Dalton in the season opener.

Keep an eye this week on Baltimore's defensive line. Their pass rush has recorded five sacks in the past two weeks, also limiting opponents to just 87 yards per game. The Ravens pass rush and D-line weren't much of a factor in the season opener. How much of an impact will they have this week?

AccuScore has the Bengals as slight 50.1 percent favorites.
