hit by a pitch on Friday. The injury was given an Optimal Recovery Time of 7 days. Springer is expected to start on Monday, but he is still a few days away from his Optimal Recovery Time. He should be 100% by May 18 (Friday). But with a player as talented as Springer, it can sometimes make sense to play him even when he isn’t 100%.

Adrian Beltre 3B, Rangers – Risky Start

Despite returning from the DL, Inside Injuries had Beltre listed as a High Injury Risk entering Sunday’s game. Well, once again Beltre re-aggravated his troublesome hamstring. He left after recording his third error in the five games since being activated. This is just one of many signs that he returned too soon. Due to his history of hamstring problems, Beltre needed somewhere between 3-5 weeks for it to heal. He missed just two weeks, not enough time. Now he could be facing another lengthy absence. Even if he doesn’t land on the DL, he’s a very risky guy to have in Fantasy lineups this week. There’s no telling at this point if he will play, and if he does he won’t be anywhere near 100%.

Nicholas Castellanos OF, DET – Sit

Nicholas Castellanos had a bad run in recent weeks when it comes to injuries. After having a case of the flu in the first week of May, Castellanos missed a game on May 9th due to a hit-by-pitch that gave him a swollen knee. Seemingly without any time to recover from the first hit-by-pitch, Castellanos was hit once again, this time in the hand. While X-rays came back negative for any structural damage to his pinkie finger, he is still swollen and sore. He is unlikely to play in Monday’s matchup against the Indians, and he may be out even further into the week.

Jameson Taillon SP, PIT – Sit

Jameson Taillon left Friday’s start early due to a laceration on his finger. Taillon has been quoted as saying that he hopes to make his next start, but Fantasy owners should be cautious. While he may very well make that next start, players tend to struggle in the first game returning from a minor injury. Our recovery timeline shows that it may be up to two and-a-half more weeks before Taillon is back to full form and ready to dominate again.

Robinson Cano 2B, SEA – Sit

Cano has been confirmed to have fractured his fifth metacarpal in his right hand. This is an extremely severe injury, and he should be out for around eight weeks. Surgery is likely. Depending on the league and the DL rules, he might even be worth dropping.
