AFC South Predictions: 2018 NFL Previews
In the AFC, the biggest surprises at the end of the last season were team performances from the AFC South. Jacksonville turned things around and recorded an above .500 season for the first time in 10 years. They continued into the playoffs and all the way to the conference championship. Also, Tennessee reached the playoffs, meaning two teams from the AFC South reached the postseason for the first time in five years.

Accuscore simulations predict that Jacksonville will continue with good form into the 2018 season. They have the highest probability (37%) to win the division with projections of between 8 and 9 wins. However, all other teams in the division are projected to be within one win in season totals, which explains why this may secretly be the most competitive division in the NFL. Jacksonville has barely over a 50% chance to reach the playoffs, but that percentage could jump or drop based on few key divisional matchups.

Even though the Tennessee Titans reached the playoffs for the first time in nine years, they have a new head coach, Mike Vrabel, roaming on the sideline. Simulations give Tennessee about 37% probability to reach the playoffs and 22% to win the division. The total amount of wins projects to be around eight for the Titans.
The Houston Texans follow a similar story. Last season was filled with injuries and resulted in only four total wins. It is expected that the amount of wins will be doubled, and with that, the Texans should compete for a playoffs spot with the Titans and Jaguars. Tennessee's playoffs probability is 37% with 8 wins projected during the regular season.
The Indianapolis Colts finally have their franchise QB Andrew Luck back in business. That should give them few additional wins compared to last season’s four wins. The predicted win total should be between 7 and 8. It means that there is no clear favorite to finish top or bottom of the AFC South. The Colts are projected to finish last in the last in the division, but Indy still has over a 30% chances to make the playoffs. Indianapolis needs to have at least a 3-3 record after the first six games in order to battle for the division title, as the Colts' schedule gets much more difficult during the latter part of the season.
