World Cup Group Stage Projections: Round 3

After 2 rounds of play, AccuScore recalculated its group stage probabilities entering the final round of group play.

World Cup Group Projections –Part 1

With seven teams already qualified and five teams eliminated entering the final round of the group stages, 20 teams fight it out to claim nine spots. Of those teams, Brazil is the furthest ahead in the projected rankings. Group A favors Mexico joining the hosts, as a simple draw would be enough to get the Mexicans through over Croatia.

Group B is already decided with Netherlands and Chile going through.

Group C already has Colombia punching its ticket, and Ivory Coast is the most likely team to make it through. Simple enough, a win over Greece would secure passage for Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba and company.

With Costa Rica already advancing in Group D, Italy and Uruguay play each other for one proper shot at advancing. Uruguay is considered the favorite in the match, but the draw still allows the Italians to go through. As such, Italy holds the 60-40 edge to either win or draw over Luis Suarez and the Uruguayans.

AccuScore also put our Soccer Guru to work, and he picked out the top 3 value picks of the last round of group play. The first pick is free, but the other two are for members only. See his World Cup Group Stage picks
