Manchester Derby & Premier League Picks

This weekend of European football features the Manchester derby in England on Monday, but before we get to that, it is time for a weekly look about Europe.

Elsewhere in England, Tottenham will take the pitch without Gareth Bale for the first time since he was stretchered off for a horrifying ankle injury. To make matters worse, Spurs take on Everton for a potential fourth place six-pointer.

The Toffees are only six points back of Spurs, and only four points behind fourth place Chelsea.

Then on Sunday, the Manchester derby takes over Monday night football with United looking to send a message to City. Fifteen points separate first place United and second place City, so the league may not be on the line. However, when a derby is afoot, not much else matter.

It should be an interesting fixture, and we’ll come back to the computer’s thoughts on the match a little later.

To be honest, the rest of Europe does not offer much this weekend outside of meaningless league matches that have European implications, but the leagues are all but decided. Juve’s nine-point lead is the narrowest of the top four, but the Old Lady of Italian football should put away league-bottom Pescara.

The second leg of the upcoming Champions League quarterfinals should provide some excitement with Juventus hosting Bayern Munich with a two-goal deficit to make up. PSG and Barcelona leveled 2-2, but the Spaniards were more comfortable, and even without Messi, they should have won the match in Paris.
