Two teams above others in Apertura regular season

Mexican top tier football league takes a head start and the first round is already played this weekend. The round starts on Friday night with two games, including last year’s regular season phenomenon Tijuana hosting Cruz Azul.

Liga MX transfer window was once again busy, with plenty of transactions inside the league as well as outside. The most notable transfers from Europe to Mexico were Colombian international Enner Valencia’s move from West Ham (on loan at Everton) to Tigres, while Japanese icon Keisuke Honda arrived to Pachuca from Ac Milan.

Tijuana’s excellent performance in the regular season – winning both Apertura and Clausura, but losing in playoffs – caused them to lose a couple of key players to league rivals, as playmaker Aviles Hurtado was bought by Monterrey and promising anchorman Guido Rodriguez joined CF America. Tijuana is one of the teams who are unlikely to repeat their heroics a second season in a row.

Liga MX is extremely balanced and repeating a championship run is pretty much a miracle. In 10 past seasons seven different teams have won the title, with only Pachucha and Santos Laguna managing to capture the title more than once.

Accuscore is joining the Liga MX action from the beginning and despite many hard-to-measure new acquisitions – as well as a new promoted team, Lobos BUAB – we can predict the outcome of the Liga MX Apertura by using our state of the art simulation engine.

Accuscore simulations follow trend with the oddsmakers, with a couple of rather drastic exceptions. America and Santos Laguna are much higher regarded by the betting companies than Accuscore’s simulations, while Queretaro has an outsider chance rising above couple of favorites. Last year’s champion Guadalaraja seems like a surefire bet this Apertura as well, but both Monterrey and Pumas have a bone to pick with the reigning champs – and they have the means to go all the way!
