Week 8 Preview

Here's a quick preview of some quality games and interesting stories heading into college football's big weekend.

Watch the firework show
Missouri and Texas Tech square off in what should be one of the highest scoring entertaining games of the year. Both offenses rank in the top 5 nationally and neither has what you would call a shutdown defense. Chase Daniel and Graham Harrell should put up huge numbers slinging the ball all over the field. I'll take Mizzou in a close one.

Big East gone batty
With South Floridagetting knocked off by Rutgers Thursday night, UCONN remains the only team in the Big East with an unblemished conference record. Granted the Huskies have played only one league game so far, but that's how crazy it's been this season. Randy Edsall's club were expected to be at the bottom of the standings this year, but he's led his club to a 5-1 and is entirely capable of pulling a few upsets before the year is done. The Huskies will face off against Louisville Friday night, and it says here that there will be no unbeaten teams in the Big East by Saturday.

How the mighty have fallen
Miami and Florida State will square off in Tallahassee Saturday, and yet it seems as if nobody has noticed. The winner gets to lay claim to third best team in the state of Florida. My how times have changed. The 'Noles and 'Canes are going through some lean times, but they'll both be back as powers soon enough, and this game will still be intense as always despite the lack of impact it will have nationally.

SEC upside-down
You know it has been a crazy season when Kentucky is ranked eight spots higher than Florida. Still, the Gators are favored in this matchup and will look to get back into the national title race. Tim Tebow and co. still have a shot to make that happen, but they must win out starting Saturday in Lexington. Kentucky has a 20-game losing streak to Florida, and Andre Woodson will have to put up some big numbers to get a long-awaited win. I think the Gators will tack on another win and remind Wildcats fans it's almost basketball season.
