WEEK 16 PICK 5Posted by DAMAN in Untagged |
Attention Goldmembers: OK we are 2 for 2 thus far this week and 10 for our last 13, so lets get at least 4 out of 5 on these picks and really start to pick up some steam heading into the stretch run, I have some great picks for you this week, so lets get started. Philadelphia is getting 3 points at New Orleans. McNabb and company are fresh off upsetting Dallas last week and although Brees has been playing well lately, Romo had been better before last week. The Eagles will be able to move the ball well against the Saints, especially through the air against the 30th ranked New Orleans pass defense. McNabb is getting healthier by the week and, with the 150 yard plus performance capabilities of Brian Westbrook, would love to show the Eagles what they will be missing if they decide to trade him in the offseason. McNabb has always had a way of coming out swinging when backed into a corner and this week should be no different. The Eagles are also better on the road this year than at home, winning 4 out of 7 with 2 of the 3 losses coming to 12-2 Green Bay and 14-0 New England. New Orleans seems to have found some rhythm since the Bush injury, but have been a streaky team all year and after winning two straight, may be headed for a fall. Aaron Stecker will not find success running the ball and I know that is not what makes the Saints tick, but Brees is more successful when they at least attempt to run the ball. The Saints front four have played fairly well, but the secondary will be eaten alive by McNabb which will eventually open up some running lanes for Westbrook. Take the Eagles and the 3 points. The New York Giants are a 1 point favorite at Buffalo and should have no problem covering that. The Giants will use their 6th ranked rushing attack to run all over the 22nd ranked Buffalo run defense. Eli will not be forced to win this game and therefore should be a little less error prone. New York is 6-1 on the road this season and needs just one more win to secure a playoff spot. Trent Edwards has been mediocre at best for Buffalo and this week will be without #2 receiver Roscoe Parrish, which means more attention for Lee Evans who will then be less effective. Buffalo will also have to deal with the NFL's best pass rush and may lean toward more of a ground attack, which will not be easy against a pretty solid run defense. I know that Buffalo has won 7 of 11 since starting 0-3 and would probably love to spoil the playoff plans of the in-state rival Giants, but those 7 wins have come against 5 different teams that have a combined record of 20-50 and none of those wins against a winning team. Take the Giants at -1. Tennessee is -9 against the Jets. The Titans will get back Chris Henry to aid their fourth ranked rush attack against the Jets 30th rushing defense. Vince Young showed some good signs last week in a comeback win at Kansas City and the Titan defense should have no reason shutting down the 26th ranked Jets offense, after all there is a reason they benched Pennington who will get the nod this week due to injury. Thomas Jones has not lived up to expectations and the Mangenious has turned into the Boygini. Take Tennessee at -9 as they keep their playoff hopes alive(that is if Cincinnati upset Cleveland for them earlier in the day). Tampa Bay is giving 6 points to San Francisco. I know that Shaun Hill has played great for San Francisco, heck I even gave you the Niners last week over Cincinnati, but the Buccaneer defense is playing great and will force the first interception by Hill who will not be able to keep up the good work. Frank Gore will be less effective this week against the #3 Buccaneer defense. San Francisco will have trouble putting up points with their 32nd ranked offense and although Patrick Willis is a shoe in for defensive rookie of the year, Garcia, Graham and the gang should have no problem putting up enough points to make this an easy cover. Take Tampa Bay -6. Washington rolls into Minnesota having won two straight and needs a win to keep any playoff hopes alive. The Vikings have won 5 straight and control their own destiny as far as the playoffs go. Adrian Peterson has been less effective since returning from the injury and it won't be any easier this week against the #9 Redskin run defense. Tarvaris Jackson has been improving, but took a step backward last week, perhaps feeling the pressure of a playoff push. The Redskins will do their best to slow down the #1 Viking run game and force Jackson to be the one to beat them, which he may not be able to do. The Viking run defense will cause Portis problems, but they are 32nd against the pass and I look for the Redskins to possibly take advantage of the aggressive nature of Minnesota's defense and utilize Randle El on a reverse or even a wide receiver pass for a big play. Also, according to Redskins offensive coordinator Al Saunders, the quarterback on Washington's roster who knows his offense the best is Todd Collins who is playing in place of injured starter Jason Campbell. Collins followed Saunders over from Kansas City and has played well since Campbell went down, with Washington winning both games. Take the Redskins +6.5(they may even win the game outright if you want to try to win 2.3 to 1 instead of 10 to 11). As usual, my Monday night analysis will be up sometime Monday afternoon, and as a bonus this week, there are two college games I like. I freely admit that I don't follow college like I do the NFL, but if you are interested I like Cincinnati on Saturday and Boise State on Sunday each giving 10.5. See ya Monday afternoon Goldmembers, and thank you for your continued support.

| excellent picks this week, I really like the TB@SF game. I cant believe they are giving TB only -6 I was thinking around -14, but hey.. Who cares? Bet that one HARD!! But I dont really like the NYG@BUF game, I think the giants are freefalling and wont be able to recover, Coughlin has lost this team once again due to their second half breakdowns which the team is feeling once again. The giants cannot execute, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Take the Bills in that one... Everything else is looking good |
