Tuesday Night Closer Watch

A few interesting developments on the closer front tonight:

-Eric Gagne got the save opportunity in a 5-3 game in Milwaukee.  Gagne got the save, but allowed a walk and a hit, with no strikeouts.  Personally I liked Torres the best out of the other options in the bullpen.  It looks like Gagne will be given another chance.  Hold on to Torres or even Mota if there are no better options in your league.  I've got both in a deep NL-only league, but I dropped Torres in a second for Eddie Guardado tonight.  Speaking of which...

-Following two bad outingsby C.J. Wilson, Eddie Guardado got the save chance in Texas, needing only eight pitches to get the job done, all of them strikes.  Guardado pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  I have no clue if this is just to give Wilson a night off, or if this is a permanent situation.  I added Guardado at the expense of a guy like Salomon Torres, just in case the situation was permanent.  Chances are this was because of the high pitch count to Wilson last night.  I'm telling you that I dropped Torres just to show my value for him right now.  If I see anything that could be a better option, I'm taking it, no questions asked.

-Ryan Franklin entered the 9th inning with a 4-4 tie, and although he struggled, he got out of the inning.  Out of all of these situations, I like Franklin the best.  Maybe it won't be long term, but he is easily the cream of the crop of all of these players, Gagne included.
