There are no winners tonight

Place a bet on tonight's National title game.

That really is your only chance to end up a winner.  There is no other outcome that I see where we all would win tonight.  Regardless of which team wins tonight, we know that the real National champion wasn't crowned.  You can 't say that LSU and Ohio State are the best teams in the country.  Ohio State played a meatball schedule, while LSU has two losses.  I'm not saying we don't have two good teams playing tonight, but I am saying we don't have the best teams playing, at least not for sure.

This season has been a rollercoaster ride from start to finish.  Michigan opens up the season losing to Appalachian State, then closes with a big victory over Florida.  USC loses to Stanford, then plays Illinois looking like a power house.  Teams like Ohio State and Kansas took the easy road to the BCS, playing easy schedules, ending up with one loss, and backing their way in to top bowl games.  We had plenty of flukes at number two, and very few deserved to ever be there.  Can you honestly say that South Florida is the second best team in the country?  At one point in the season that was fact, at least by the current system.

A team will win tonight, their fans will win, but everyone else will lose.  USC and Georgia look like the best two teams, but were stuck in BCS bowls, all because Ohio State embraced their tough schedule of Akron, Washington, and Youngstown State.  LSU should have made it over Georgia because they won the SEC title, but I'm not so sure LSU is that much better than Georgia.

The worst part of tonight is the Ohio State fans.  We have all seen the cocky, arrogant comments made about "THE Ohio State".  First of all, I've never understood the reason behind the emphasis on "THE".  Are Ohio State fans saying "We are the best school in Ohio" or is there a rival Ohio State that we don't know about?  I could see the truth behind Ohio State fans bragging about how they are THE team in Ohio.  I mean, they're already proclaiming themselves the best team in the country for beating Akron and Youngstown State, so this theory isn't out of the question.

Tonight if Ohio State gets clobbered by LSU, just like Florida did last season, we won't hear a word, that is until next season when Ohio State fans dismiss the most recent SEC clobbering and get back to their "We rule the World" talk.  I don't want to imagine what would happen if Ohio State would win tonight.  It wouldn't prove that they are the best team.  It would only prove that they took it easy the whole season, backed in to the number one position, and then played tough in their only hard game against a team that has been playing bowl game opponents for the last two months.  If Michigan can beat Florida, then I can see Ohio State beating LSU.  I just don't want to see it happen, because a win like that would probably be worse for humanity than Satan winning a round over God.

So here's to LSU.  Here's to a battle between two teams who aren't even the best teams in the country.  Here's to college football avoiding a tournament to determine their champion, all because they don't want to ruin the bowl games.  Here's to capping off a season of 32 bowl games, most of which have been a joke, showing that college football can't possibly ruin their bowl season anymore.  Finally, here's to hoping that Ohio State loses tonight.  The world will be a better place tomorrow, and I guarantee we won't hear any Ohio State fans proclaiming their team to be the best...at least not until next season.

Tim, you're totally ignoring the fact that not only did OSU beat Akron (20-2; did they miss a zero, it should have been 200-2) and Youngstown State, they also beat Kent State, who gave the NFL Antonio Gates and James Harrison.

What a bunch of turkeys; they're gonna get roasted tonight.
