The Monday Nighter

Salutations gamblers,

Christner here with my take on this weeks monday night's MIA @ PIT matchup.

What to Expect: PIT has all but ruled out WR Santonio Holmes and Defensive leader Troy Palamalu. PIT is coming off a disgusting loss to a terrible NYJ team, where they played poorly on both sides of the ball. Look for an inspired team to show up, and more specifically for the PIT defense to do a far better job against the run than they did against the Jets, because they will get a heavy dose of the combo of Chatman and Sticky Icky Ricky Williams (if Chatman doesget cleared to play) with this being the second start of rookie John Beck, who looked less than stellar going 9/22 and putting no offensive points on the board in a 17-7 loss to Philly. Williams should be somewhat rusty if he does play, thus allowing the 3rd ranked PIT run D to prove last week was a fluke. The MIA passing game will be constantly under seige by the number 1 pass defense in the league, who should put up several sacks on young Beck.

On the offensive side of the ball i look for Big Ben to throw for 200+ yards and keep the INTs to a minimum. This will be set up by the PIT offense getting back to what it succeeds at, keeping it simple by using Willie Parker to do what he does best, pound the ball. Expect the #2 PIT rushing game to put up some big yards in this contest. I expect a scoreline similar to that of the BAL @ PIT game (38-7 PIT), however the majority of the yardage and points should be generated by the running game as opposed to the dominant passing performance Roethlisberger put up in that game. I call on these similarities because both BAL and MIA have meager offensive production, and both have stellar aspects of their defense (BAL great rush D, MIA good pass D), whereas PIT has the weapons in both aspects of the offense to exploit a team, however their run is a juggernaut.

Pick: PIT -15, PIT will persuade their doubters with an inspired  team performance. I see PIT possibly keeping MIA out of the endzone and potentially off the scoreboard altogether. 24-3 PIT final.

Enjoy the game, dont sweat it.

Cheers, Christner.

yeah, I understand PIT is dominant at home. I dont think anyone could have predicted the weather would impact this game that severely or knew they had just re-sodded the entire field. ill chalk that one up to being somewhat of an unlucky break

hey Christner, don't forget that PIT is a different team at home, although it is now 15 minutes before the scheduled kickoff which is delayed due to lightning, the weather worries me a little in that a sloppy field may make it hard to cover a 15.5 point spread, but I'm still sticking with the Steelers, you keep up the good work too, later, DAMAN
