The AccuScore Trend

Perhaps it's better called the computer handicapping trend, but anyway there's a clear trend that we've all noticed.  It's the influence of AccuScore, FreedomOdds, and other handicapping tools on wagering effectiveness.  People are discovering that these tools really do give you an advantage in your wager war against the seemingly invincible casino experts.  The success rates being reported and verified by computer handicapping software programs are above the profit level of 52.38% for a 10% vigorish.  Yes, the tools work and Yes, you do win.  You haveto be smart about it, of course and do risk management and stick with a good approach to your bet selections, but that's easily done.

What does this say about the future of sports wagering, now that the widespread use of such tools is emminent?  Well, there are two possibilities really.  The first is that the casino will have to raise the vigorish to compensate.  It's a sad state of affairs because the average gambler will be left behind while the computer-savvy gamblers keep up or stay a little bit ahead of the game, but that's what may happen.  The other possibility is that instead of raising the vigorish, the casinos will up their prediction skill.  It is well known that the casino does not attempt to predict the line with greatest accuracy in mind, but rather with dividing the long-term average of public wagering to be 50% / 50% on the favorite or the underdog.  That way the casino is guaranteed to clean up on the vig over time, rather than make risky projections of actual outcomes.  It's a formula that works, but they may have to abandon it and set the line on pure skill to compete with the advancement of computer handicapping tools.

Either way or both combined to some degree, the thing to do is clear:  build your computer toolset and use it wisely.  I recommend AccuScore's $50 a month (or so) membership to anyone who does enough wagering to justify the cost, and I recommend my own website, www.freedomodds.com for anyone who wants free tools.  It's sort of like a mini-amateure version of AccuScore that has a lot to offer including excellent success rates and its all free.  And there will be others, so keep your web browser poised and ready for a bright computer handicapping future for all of us!

I don't think the casinos will need to change much at all. Most gamblers aren't in it for the money to begin with. As long as there are very affluent people willing to throw hundreds of thousands at Vegas, they will be able to pay off grinders like you and me. I heard this was the most profitable year for sportsbooks in a long time. If we maintain impeccable discipline, our long term prospects are good. We might even be able to make enough to pay all our bills and call ourselves "professional", but if anyone starts getting rich, like raking in hundreds of thousands or millions per year the books will just cut him off. If anything, I think vig might get lower as books compete for our business.
