New Years Eve Picks

For the past four years I have yet to spend an entire New Year's Eve with my wife.  Last year was the first time we got to see the ball drop together, as she made it in about a minute before midnight.  This year is rare.  Neither of us have to work after six tonight, which means we will be spending the evening together.  I'm pretty excited by that, it's got me in a good mood, and because of that, I figured I would post some picks.  Hopefully these will help people out in their decision making today.

College Football

AirForce ML +159

Cal tanked this season, starting 5-0 and ending 6-6.  So far during the bowl games we have seen a lot of non-BCS teams taking it to their BCS opponents, in an attempt to prove themselves worthy.  My system heavily favors Air Force, AccuScore shows good side value on Air Force, and I think Cal's struggles, plus Air Force's determination, will help lead to an upset.

Fresno State +5.5

Paul Johnson has yet to take over as the head coach at Georgia Tech, which means they will be playing this game with an interim head coach.  This is another game where I like the non-BCS underdog, especially in a team that is going through a transition period.  I think Georgia Tech could win, but I think it will be by a field goal.  I also like the under in this game, as I think it will be low scoring.

South Florida -6

Oregon has been very unproductive without Dennis Dixon at quarterback.  South Florida on the other hand is the only Big East team that has proven themselves outside of the conference, beating Auburn on the road earlier in the season.  Their defense is strong, and their offense is explosive.  I think South Florida wins this game convincingly against a struggling Oregon offense.

Kentucky -9

Florida State is missing 36 of their players for this trip.  I know the line is set high, probably to try and get people on the Florida State side.  Andre Woodson is going to try to put up a good game to improve his draft position next season, and it only helps him that he is doing it against the scrubs of Florida State.

Indiana ML +166

Indiana is playing with a lot of emotion for their late head coach.  James Hardy is a playmaker and will be a big factor against Oklahoma State's 108th ranked pass defense.

Clemson -2.5

Brandon Cox turns the ball over too much, and that will hurt him against Clemson's solid defense.  A lot of people will be playing the SEC is better than the ACC card, but Auburn lost to South Florida earlier in the year, so they aren't invincible.  Cullen Harper will have a good day and lead Clemson to a victory.

NBA

Not much to these picks.  Just my favorites from what AccuScore has to offer today.  However, I really like Detroit at home over a weak Milwaukee road team, and I like the under because I don't think Milwaukee will put up many points.

Orlando -3
Orlando/Chicago O 198.5
Detroit -11.5
Milwaukee/Detroit U 190.5
Golden State/Houston U 202
Utah U 199
Toronto/New Orleans O 183.5
New Orleans -6
Minnesota/LA Clippers O 188

NCAAB

Once again, my favorite from what AccuScore has to offer.

Georgetown -20
Siena -17
Fairfield +4.5 (Probably taking this one moneyline)
St Josephs -9

Good luck to all today, and have a safe and happy New Year!
