Adam Lind Deserves Your LovePosted by jonlee in Toronto Blue Jays, MLB, Fantasy, Adam Lind |
If you need a hitter, in any format, Toronto outfielder Adam Lind is your man. Most of the chatter and attention around this time of year is centered around who will be traded and how those moves affect player values in fantasy. Lind’s terrific recent performance has gotten lost in the shuffle.
I have promoted Lind since he was called up once again back on June 22, and he has more than delivered. The Blue Jays finally let him play everyday (and likelythe change from John Gibbons to Cito Gaston) and he has rewarded the team by hitting in the majors like everybody thought he could based on his minor league track record. Just last year Lind was named by Baseball America as the top prospect in the Toronto system. He failed to hit last year in the bigs and was seemingly discarded by Gibbons, the Blue Jays, and fantasy owners. It’s too late for Gibbons and the team to fix their mistakes, but not too late for you.
Since his call-up, Lind has hit a robust .361/.385/.619 with 5 home runs and 22 RBI. He has hits in 19 of his last 21 games. He has started to move up in the lineup as well batting sixth on Sunday, the highest in the order he has hit all year (he had been batting mostly out of the 8th hole). He is unowned in more than half of ESPN standard leagues, and is similarly underappreciated in Yahoo! leagues. Do yourselves a favor and quit relying on the likes of Delmon Young, David Murphy, Aaron Rowand, and Randy Winn. Give some love to Adam Lind.
Adam Lind has been on a tear since being called back up on June 22.
