Can I Sue Brian Billick?

Posted by oh_steve in Untagged

Before reading this, let me re-assure everyone that my personal bias has no impact on the AccuScore simulations.  I just need to rant...

If there are any lawyers who are AccuScore members, I would appreciate it if you could contact me and let me know if it is legal to sue Brian Billick for his gross mismanagement and moronic play calling in the final 2 minutes of the Baltimore Ravens - Cincinnati Bengals game.

If this were last year I could understand why you wouldn't try to pound the ball in from 1/2 a yard out.  After all, Jamal Lewis was terrible. But Willis McGahee looked good tonight.  He showed quickness and power, most notably when he dragged the pile from the 4 yd line to the 1/2 yd line.

Week 1 Fantasy Blog

Posted by oh_steve in Untagged

I scanned the AccuScore Fantasy Rankings and here are a few players that are expected to have especially big games this weekend.  In addition to citing a few of the "Duh, of course he'll be huge" players, I'll try to point to some possible sleepers for those of you who got screwed in your fantasy draft.

JOSEPH ADDAI - As the primary RB on the Colts playing against the Saints I can't imagine Addai not getting over 100 yards rushing and receiving and at least 1 TD.  In simulations he's averaging 150 yards and 1.1 TDs.  Looks like

My NFL and NCAAF Picks

Posted by oh_steve in Untagged

Alright hardcore sports investors, gamblers, and office pool pick ‘em players, let's look at a few upcoming football games and make some picks.  As a tease to some newbies on the site I'll reveal some of AccuScore's predictions, but I never make picks solely on one source, even a source as good as AccuScore.  I always use my brain and my expanding gut.  I also never make a pick involving teams that I haven't seen on TV.

So here are a few picks I'm making today. I'll add to this the closer we get to kick-off, but these

Reaction to Week 1

Posted by oh_steve in Untagged

Isn't it amazing that 2 games ago, Michigan fans and much of the sports media angrily railed against AccuScore for saying Florida deserved to be in the National Championship game vs. Ohio State.  While 2 games ago is 9 months ago, it's still startling to see a team be dealt two humiliating losses (USC, Appalachian State) in a row after thinking so highly of themselves.

I wish I could say AccuScore saw the Appalachian State upset coming, but with so many "real" games to forecast we only cover games when both teams are Division 1-A Schools.  This type of upset

I like the favorites in this weekend's blowouts

Posted by oh_steve in Untagged

So LSU easily covered the spread (opened at 16, moved to 19 in most books) which AccuScore expected.  By trouncing Mississippi State on a Thursday, the #2 Tigers raised the bar for other Top Ranked teams like USC, Oklahoma, and Texas.

I don't have all the spreads in front of me, but I'm sure each of these teams are favored by 37 points or more.  I don't think the BCS computers give any credit for killing a bad team by 50 vs. by 40 points, but to win the battle of public opinion, these Pac 10 and Big 12 Teams will want to show that they can absolutely dominate

www.who-gives-a-s**t.com

I like Yahoo!Sports.  I think the web pages load quickly, I get the box score data I need, the new site's got nice pretty photos, but is it just me or aren't their forays into investigative journalism kind of funny?

First, they decide to create controversy because Reggie Bush's parents got some cheap or free rent.  With all the things that go wrong in amateur and professional sports is this really the big problem that needs to be brought to people's attention?  What good were they hoping to achieve by cracking this case?

Now there

Charlie Weiss is a GENIUS

Posted by oh_steve in Untagged

So the "genius" Charlie Weiss has picked his starting QB, but won't reveal what his "brilliant" brain has decided until Notre Dame takes the field vs Georgia Tech.

As someone who has to help run AccuScore simulations, I'm aggravated to no end that Weiss thinks he's so special that he doesn't have to share info like who's going to start at QB.  Let "non-geniusus" like Wisconsin's Bret Bielama and Florida State's Bobby Bowden tell people who's going to start at QB (Wisconsin Tyler Donovan, Florida St Drew Weatherford

Tiki, you are annoying

Posted by oh_steve in Untagged

I'm no Eli Manning fan, but I definitely think he's right to blast Tiki Barber for criticizing him on NBC's Half-Time show.  The fact is, Barber was supposed to be the team leader of the Giants and he's the one that bailed on the team.  Last year when Michael Irvin and Tom Jackson said it was a bad move for Tiki to declare retirement mid-season, he went ape sh** against those guys on his lame "Barber Shop" Sirius radio show.  Tiki retired mid-season because he wanted to campaign for his broadcasting career.  How selfish.

Great Korean Athletes, I mean Athlete

Posted by oh_steve in Untagged

I've been doing some NFL play calling analysis looking carefully and some key receiver stats and found that Hines Ward is THE MAN when it comes to 3rd Down and Red Zone situations.  Ordinarily, I wouldn't write a standalone article or blog about one factoid about one player, but since Hines is half Korean, I thought I'd give props to the one NFL Player by mother actually

A Face Made for Radio; Voice Made for Print

Posted by oh_steve in Untagged

I don't want to be too self-deprecating, but watching myself on video and hearing myself on radio only led me to one conclusion:

I have no future in the broadcasting business.

Now before I single myself out as the broadcast reject, there are a load of big, ugly, loads on major .com media outlets that I also think shouldn't come within 500 feet of a camera, so maybe I&#
