weekly upset special

It's always more fun to do this when I was right last week as I have rejuvenated confidence in my analysis.  Speaking of rejuvenation, did you see the second half of last week's Jets-Bengals game?  Neither did I, but I did read about it and watch the highlights, and listen to ESPN expert analysis, then I made up my own mind about it.  This is what I discovered;  the Bengals are +5 in the turnover margin in two home victories with their only home loss coming to the Patriots(nothing to be ashamed of there), and, as last Sunday night's game reminded those of us

Lock of the Week

Posted by DAMAN in Untagged

My newest feature this week is my lock of the week.  This week's lock is, don't laugh at me now, the Cincinnati Bengals giving 6 points to the New York Jets.  I know that the Bengals defense is a misnomer, but so is the Jets offense.  Chad "short routes only" Pennington may dink and dunk all day long on Cincinnati, but Palmer will keep hitting home runs against a Jets defense that, statistically, isn't much better than Cincy's.  The Bengals are averaging 27 points a game, which I believe they will top in this game, and even if they don't the Jets

weekly upset special

I am back for my fourth installment of taking a team that should lose, and convincing you they will win. After hitting my first week with KC's win on the road at San Diego, I have run into hard luck the last two weeks as both my picks lost on field goals in the final 15 seconds of games that saw them have their starting quarterbacks knocked out, but I'm not here to make excuses, I'm here to make brilliant picks, so lets get to it. This week I want you to take the Bills to beat Baltimore outright. Now I know what you're thinking already, no wonder this guy is 1-2 on these

Weekly upset special

Well I'm back with another projected upset for you this week.  Take the Titans on the moneyline to beat Tampa outright.  Look, say what you want about his numbers, somehow, some way, all Vince Young does is win.  He has led Tennessee to five straight road wins and is 9-2 in his last eleven, only falling to Indy and New England, and if Brandon Jones makes an easy reception at the 38 yard line they may have had a field goal try to win the Indy game.  As for the Buccaneers, their depleted backfield should be no match for the league's third best run defense and although

For this week's upset I like the Miami Dolphins to take out the Houston Texans.  Now I know what you're thinking, the fins are winless and Schaub appears to be everything that Houston wanted David Carr to be, but, not so fast my friends.  The Texans are battling injuries on both sides of the ball and will not be able to attack Miami's league worst run defense, which gets Zach Thomas back by the way.  Meanwhile, don't let Trent Green's poor start fool you as he is suffering as a result of the poor play of Miami's defense.  Green is still able to throw

Weekly upset special

This week's upset special is the Kansas City Chiefs over the San Diego Chargers.  That's right, you heard me.  LT has rushed for 100 yards only once in three years against KC, while LJ has done so 4 out of 5 times.  The Chiefs will put 8 or 9 in the box and dare Rivers to beat them, which he can't do and offensively they will take a page out of the Pats' and Packers' playbooks and throw the football againt a defense that already badly misses the man who led them in tackles each of the last five years, Donnie Edwards.  And, if that isn't enough for you
