Lock of the Week

Posted by DAMAN in Untagged

What a no-brainer this is.  As I pointed out last week, San Diego is winless when they throw more than they run.  Indianapolis comes in outgaining their opponents by an average of 109 yards per game and nearly doubling them up in points.  San Diego has the number 25 defense in the league and will be no match for an overpowering Colts offense which can choose whether to take advantage of the #24 pass D or the #22 run D.  LT will be a weapon, I look for him to possibly go over a hundred, but the Chargers will constantly be playing catchup and be forced to throw.  Philip

Weekly upset special

Posted by DAMAN in Untagged

Alright everybody, after last week's confusion I am back and better than ever.  I have a fearless forecast for this week's upset special, I feel really good about it, so here it is.  I want you to take the Eagles over Washington outright.  I know the game is in Washington, and the Redskins beat them in Philly, but in that game Philadelphia had 3 drives stall inside the 10 settling for three short field goals, as well as a drive end on downs inside the 10.  They were able to move the ball, just unable to convert on third down.  The Redskins were able to keep

Running it up

Posted by DAMAN in Untagged

First of all let me say that this is not an anti-New England blog entry.  Say what you want about the Patriots and their apparent attempt at humiliating their opponents, at least it's a team effort.  I guess that lost somewhere in the warm, fuzzy feeling that everyone got watching the guy Jon Gruden called Jim Brown wearing number 28, Adrian Peterson, break the all-time single game rushing record is the fact that he should not have been out there.  Every week for the last month the media has been bad-mouthing Bill Belichick and the Patriots for running up the score, making comments

Monday night matchup

Posted by DAMAN in Untagged

Alright everyboday, Daman is ready to break down the Monday night game and let you know who to put your dough on to start your week off right.  There will be several keys to this week's game which will ultimately give us the answers we are looking for.  The Ravens sacked Big Ben 14 times in two games last year, so that is key number one, keeping Roethlisberger upright.  Trevor Pryce will play this week, although is probably not fully healthy and Adalius Thomas is in New England, so the pass rush of last year will not be quite the same, as evidence by the fact that Baltimore

Clarifications

Posted by DAMAN in Untagged

I started writing this blog a few weeks back, mostly giving handicapping advice for those playing the accuscore challenge. Do I consider myself an expert in this area?, no not yet, although I do have some thoughts of starting a 900 service for sports handicapping, but that is a year or two off. I am just now starting to really delve deep into matchups and look at the numbers and the trends as well as interjecting my own observations and analysis, and I'm having some success, being in the top ten overall in units on the Accuscore Challenge leaderboard. That being said I wanted

Colts-Patriots

Posted by DAMAN in Untagged

The greatest regular season game in the history of the NFL, at least as far as records go and perhaps even on paper.  First you have the defending champs, undefeated at 7-0 for the third straight year.  They are never wavering, always constant, the immovable object.  Then you have the unstoppable force in the New England Patriots.  Number one in too many offensive categories to list, winning every game by 17 or more and Tom Brady on pace to have the best season ever by a quarterback.  To disect this matchup let's look at some numbers.  Indy has faced only two

SD/MIN and BUF/CIN

Posted by DAMAN in Untagged

Just a few quick thoughts on these games.  First of all I was surprise to find Minnesota just a one point underdog to the surging Chargers which ruined my plan to make them my upset special this week.  Look, Minnesota's offense is not built to take advantage of the Chargers lacking pass defense, but they do have a defense built to take advantage of the Chargers offense.  Minnesota is third against the run and when you force Philip Rivers to beat you, he can't, just ask Green Bay, New England, and Kansas City.  Minnesota is averaging 2.5 sacks per game and has a league

Lock of the Week

Posted by DAMAN in Untagged

Ok I am back with another sure bet for you this week, that is if you can navigate the pick section on the site which seems to have some glitch on it this week.  I want you to take the Chiefs as a 1 point favorite against the Packers.  Green Bay is last in the league running the ball and don't let last week fool you, they were facing the league's worst run defense.  Kansas City is allowing less than 200 yards per game through the air and are 6th in the league in sacks thanks to Jared Allen who has 8 in just five games since returning from suspension.  The Packers

weekly upset special

What can I say, not a lot to choose from this week as far as underdogs who will win their games outright, but here goes anyway.  I want you to take the 49ers over the Falcons outright.  Despite having the league's worst offense, the 49ers are just two games out in the weak NFC West and with Seattle and Arizona both on the road this week, a win could move them closer to the top.  Don't forget that Alex Smith is back and should be even healthier this week than last which should provide enough of a threat to open things up a bit for Frank Gore.  On the other side, Atlanta

Lock of the Week

Posted by DAMAN in Untagged

Alright I am back for my second installment of my sure bet for the week.  This week I want you to take Indianapolis giving 6.5 to Carolina.  I know that Carolina has never lost to Indy, and that David Carr has beaten the Colts three straight times, but have you seen the 2007 Colts?  WOW.  After starting with a thrashing of the suddenly offensively challenged Saints, Indy won two close divisional road games, and since then have won 3 straight by 59 points against teams that are a combined 11-8.  I know what you are thinking, beware the trap game, but do you really think
