5 Reasons I Love College Football More Than My Girlfriend

Every August since I was twelve, the alarm clocks in my house get set for 8:00 am on Saturdays.   Obviously this is so I can wake up to college football analysts breaking down the entire day's slate.  The early morning window is just long enough to grab some Cheerios and highlight my viewing schedule on the TIVO.  However, this year my alarm "malfunctioned".  And by "malfunction," I mean to say my girlfriend

bush_upended.jpg Its the 07' season, but to see where we're at, we need to remind ourselves of where we came from.  Check out this sick highlight reel that will have you strapping up your helmet by its end.

If this doesn't pump you up.... you don't have a pulse.

Michigan has "Gone Blue"

Nine months after the Michigan Wolverines season ended with another humbling loss that defined the Lloyd Carr era, the Michigan season is effectively over again, before Labor Day.

There were a lot of reasons to "Go Blue" for Saturday's season opener. 107,000 screaming fans eager to replace last year's memory of back-to-back losses to rivals Ohio State and USC; Mike Hart kicking off his Heisman Trophy campaign; and a showcase of the #5 team in the country. But there was a group that had "Gone Blue" and they were the Michigan Wolverine football team

Unlike Tim, I like Texas Tech -9.  But i'm with Tim on Florida St.  Jimbo Fisher is the new offensive coordinator (formerly of LSU) and I think he will be looking to make a big statement.  The only thing that scares me is that I dont think I trust the Florida St. defense just yet.

NFL System: Week 1 Projections

Since I already had the end of the regular season numbers for all 32 teams, the week one projections were easy.  The hard part will be analyzing how week one works.  Here is the plan:

STEP 1:  Get the projections for week 1 of 2007 - COMPLETED
STEP 2:  Get the projections for week 1 of the 2003-2006 seasons and analyze the results.
STEP 3:  Find any trends that consistently took place over the last 4 years and bet them in week one.

I plan to work on the projections for 2003 and 2004 for tomorrow, and 2005 and 2006 by Thursday.  For

Leave Your Emotions at the Door

After Saturday's Michigan-esque loss to the sports books, I decided to take all of Sunday to watch Heroes season 1, and to just recover from the huge blow that I took from an awful start to the season.  I didn't even want to look at the picks I had made, knowing already that they were bad.  During one episode of Heroes, one of the characters stops time in roulette, places the ball in the slot that his friend bet on, then resumed time for his friend to discover that he won the spin.  I think that would be one of the powers I would like to have, with this power ranking up

Reaction to Week 1

Isn't it amazing that 2 games ago, Michigan fans and much of the sports media angrily railed against AccuScore for saying Florida deserved to be in the National Championship game vs. Ohio State.  While 2 games ago is 9 months ago, it's still startling to see a team be dealt two humiliating losses (USC, Appalachian State) in a row after thinking so highly of themselves.

I wish I could say AccuScore saw the Appalachian State upset coming, but with so many "real" games to forecast we only cover games when both teams are Division 1-A Schools.  This type of upset

Michigan chokes. Tiny Nation of Appalachia takes to the streets in celebration.

The scene was pure chaos today as the tiny nation of Appalachia took to the street in jubilant celebration after defeating the Michigan Wolverines with two blocked field goals. Pandemonium reigned as tens of thousands of Appalachians waved their national flag and sang in some language I don’t know. Even neighboring countries like Freedonia and Udorkistan celebrated along with their Appalachian allies.

For those of you who don’t know, Appalachia is a tiny, former Soviet nation nestled between several countries named something-stan and best known for exporting those weird little dolls
