Thoughts from Thursday

There were only two games on Thursday night, and neither wasconsidered to be a key match-up.  Of course both were over-shadowed by the NFL opener between the Colts and Saints.  Still, both games were very reavealing about the teams involved so lets get to it.

Louisville vs. Middle Tennessee State:  This should have been all Cardinals.  The offense held up its end of the bargain racking up a whopping 729 total yards and 58 points.   It didn't matter if it was on the ground (Anthony Allen, 275 yds. rushing) or through the air (Brian Brohm, 401

Crazy Parlays

Call me a sucker, but I'm a big fan of parlay bets.  I like doing the 6 team underdog bets and laying a few dollars on them in hopes of winning.  I've won two of them lifetime, both in the 2004 season.  I bet $1 on each of them and won around $370 with the first, and $200 with the second.  That same year the Steelers were on fire, so the I "parlayed" those winnings in to a few Steelers jerseys.  Ben Roethlisberger, James Farrior, Troy Polamalu, and Ricardo Colclough were my picks, although I don't know why I went with Colclough.  Maybe to

Good Start

Due to the anticipation of week one I have to say that opening night was somewhat anticlimatic. Even though I am happy with the performance of my fantasy players for some reason I just didn't feel the same excitement that I normally feel during kickoff. This blowout had to be somewhat of a disappointment for those of you that didn't have any fantasy players. Nevertheless, it was a relief to get things started as I'm sure we have all been chomping at the bit. However, it is fun watching Peyton Manning dissect defenses in that perfectly orchestrated

"The Gospel" Week 1 Runningbacks

Posted by FanProphet in Untagged

In the first week of "The Gospel" I have taken on average the top ten backs chosen in three different fantasy drafts this season. Of those ten players I have broken down each player's opponent and situation while offering a brief analysis of how they will fare in week one.

It is safe to assume that most first round runningbacks will dominate the majority of the fantasy landscape each week, however, there are a few first rounders who will thoroughly disappoint us by playing well below our expectations.

It is true that great players are

AFC Pimp-Slaps NFC...Again

Yep, sad to say but its true and I'm an NFC guy!  After a sluggish start, it took a whopping 4 drives in the second half to pimp-slap the Saints out of their "we're contenders" day dream.

Truth is, despite the league's effort for parity, the good teams in the AFC are just better than the great teams in the NFC. I am hoping I'm wrong, honestly but I just don't see it.

Who do you think will stand up? The Bears? Certainly, their defense is Super Bowl caliber but I'm not sure Benson can handle the rushing load and Lord

Exciting Games Dot Week 2 in NCAAs

This weekend might be the best set of early season games in years.  ESPN predictably hasn't been able to resist their strange need to name every weekend/day/year and is thus dubbing it "Measuring Stick Saturday."  Certainly nothing will be proved tonight by Louisville taking on another patsy in Middle Tennesse St. but there are a ton of other intriguing games going on in week two.  Here's a rundown of a few games that caught my eye:

South Florida vs. Auburn - The Bulls are the trendy sleeper pick in the Big East among experts this year.

Thursday Night Picks 9/6

This will be a short post, as I'm taking a break from work and about to do a fantasy draft when I get back.  Tonight I like the following:

 New Orleans +6
New Orleans ml +200

I like New Orleans in this game, obviously.  I think the Colts defense will be weakened from the loss of 5 of their players from last season to free agency.  They were already a bad defense, the worst against the run, but had a good stretch in time for the playoffs, which got them a Super Bowl.  I think the Saints will do a good job on the ground against them, giving them control

OLD TIME FOOTBALL. Putting on the foil coach.

OK, so it's dead week in the NFL. Fantasy drafts are done, final roster cuts have been made, we're all sick of preseason games. Face it; we're all dying for the Colts to unload on the Saints.  AccuScore gives the Colts a 72% chance of helping the Saints to start the season 0-1. I could care less about Kelly Clarkson, Faith Hill or John Mellencamp. I don't have a clue who "Hinder" is.  I just want to see some damn football already.

I'm sorry, but I just can't get into baseball.  And I played baseball for 9 or 10 years of my life. The summer is

Week 1 Fantasy Blog

I scanned the AccuScore Fantasy Rankings and here are a few players that are expected to have especially big games this weekend.  In addition to citing a few of the "Duh, of course he'll be huge" players, I'll try to point to some possible sleepers for those of you who got screwed in your fantasy draft.

JOSEPH ADDAI - As the primary RB on the Colts playing against the Saints I can't imagine Addai not getting over 100 yards rushing and receiving and at least 1 TD.  In simulations he's averaging 150 yards and 1.1 TDs.  Looks like

Week 1 - Part 1

Colts -6

Bet the Colts over the Saints and give the points.  The stregnth of the Saints defense is DE Will Smith defending the middle of the defensive line.  The Saints will be decent blocking the run against most squads, but not the Colts who will have their "Stretch Play" on display Sunday running towards the flats instead of up the middle.  The Colts wideouts will feast on the Saints cornerbacks.  Take the Colts and give the points.
