Week 2 NFL Picks

Posted by mellifluous in Untagged

Every week there are a few lines that in the NFL that you just have to bet.  Last week I found two that seemed to good to be true, but they weren't.  For some reason, Pittsburgh was only favored by 5.5 over Cleveland and New England was only 6.5 point favorites over the Jets.

Here are my picks for this weeks games:

Cincinnati @ Cleveland - Over/Under 41.5 (Over)

It's pretty easy.  The Steelers and Browns last week put up 41 total points.  Cincinnati has a better offense than Pittsburgh.  Cincinnati's defense is not

A Few Football Picks

My College Football picks were solid last week as I went with the heavy favorites LSU, Oklahoma and Penn State.  In the NFL I personally lucked out locking in the Colts / Saints Over Under at 50.  I picked the game to go over 52, which was wrong.  I also whiffed taking Oakland to cover -1.5.  Jon Kitna gave me the big f-you by passing for a ton of yards and touchdowns.  I felt vindicated when the Raiders took the lead and Kitna had thrown to costly interceptions at that point, but then saw my hopes dashed by Sebastian Janikowski and a bad late turnover by Josh

Patriot Games

I've noticed a lot of times that when someone is the loser in an event, more times than not there is more complaining of outside forces, and less on what the loser did wrong. You hear more "We got screwed by the refs" or "They were cheating" than you do "We didn't give it our best effort" or "They were just the better team." On Sunday the Patriots destroyed the New York Jets, passing at will on their defense and giving us a preview of the team that probably will hold the Super Bowl trophy at the end of the season. You'll understand

Boosters Tell Coaches, "Air Raid or It's Your A$$"

It's "Win Now" in college football. It is no longer acceptable to sacrifice the season and rebuild your program. $16-Million dollars in BCS money means you must pound the panic button at the threat of a 7-5 season and play pimple faced kids who are four months removed from their prom. The maturation process has given way to the unrelenting pressure that does not subscribe to the term, "rebuilding."

One of football's toughest transitions is going from dominating the high school ranks to being a force in college. When you make the jump to big-time college

Week 2 Contenders and Pretenders

It's time this week's contenders and pretenders, and in lieu of my new memo, a certain maize and blue will not be mentioned.

 Contenders:

Cal stays on here after another win, and another brilliant performance by Desean Jackson.

South Carolina/Florida both get on here after winning big games for different reasons.  The Gamecocks solidified their place on the SEC's upper-echelon with a big win against Georgia.   The Bulls get on here for knocking off another SEC team, Auburn.  The Bulls however have plenty more to be excited about

Can I Sue Brian Billick?

Posted by oh_steve in Untagged

Before reading this, let me re-assure everyone that my personal bias has no impact on the AccuScore simulations.  I just need to rant...

If there are any lawyers who are AccuScore members, I would appreciate it if you could contact me and let me know if it is legal to sue Brian Billick for his gross mismanagement and moronic play calling in the final 2 minutes of the Baltimore Ravens - Cincinnati Bengals game.

If this were last year I could understand why you wouldn't try to pound the ball in from 1/2 a yard out.  After all, Jamal Lewis was terrible. But Willis McGahee looked good tonight.  He showed quickness and power, most notably when he dragged the pile from the 4 yd line to the 1/2 yd line.
