Bears Offense is TOAST

Just about everyone in the windy city, and for that matter almost the entire national media, has clamored for Rex Grossman's head and this week, it looks like their wish was granted. I really think they are all looking in the wrong direction.

Bears fans can officially start commiserating with Ravens fans at this point. Face it, whether you are a Bears fan or not, it's painful to watch an amazing defense be wasted by an inept offense but that has been the situation in Chicago for the past year and the situation in Baltimore for much longer.  My partner Stephen

NFL System: Week 4 Projections

As you've probably noticed, I've been busting out the articles the past few days.  The reason for that is because I will be gone most of the week starting today.  I'm heading up to an Orioles game tonight, my first trip to see the O's in probably 5 years.  I used to be an Orioles fan, my mom was from Baltimore and my grand parents lived there, so we would go watch the O's whenever we went to visit them.  In my opinion, Cal Ripken is the greatest sports star ever.  Period.  However, I dropped the O's in 2003 for 3 reasons:

1.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Preview

Remember way back at the start of the NFL season when every fantasy league was decided by who it was who took LaDanian Tomlinson?  Remember when Steven Jackson was the only other good running back in the draft?  Remember Larry Johnson being called the #3 guy by most people (myself included.)  Remember when no one else had a shot if you were outside of the top 3?  Yeah, have fun with Brian Westbrook.  LT owners are going to have fun with the title.  So long ago that was.

Fast forward three weeks later, and we've got a different story.  LT isn'

Before we get to this week's Contenders and Pretenders, I felt it necessary to comment on Mike Gundy's rebuttal to The Daily Oklahoman's Jenni Carlson column.

If you are reading this, you've seen, read or heard the tirade. In fact, you probably have heard numerous people comment on the explosion in question. Look no further than Accuscore's Zach Rosenfield.

I have been on the receiving end, not directly, as a college football beat reporter. Most of the time, the thing that ticks of coaches more than anything is when "journalists

McNabb is not among the elite

If there is anything worse than a Philadelphia Eagles fan when their team is losing, it's a Philadelphia Eagles fan when their team is winning.  It's probably the cycle of it all that really drives you nuts.  You hear them complaining about their team one week, and then after a good showing they suddenly have the greatest team in the league.  Eagles fans bash their team and their players un-mercifully, but when their team wins, they are absolutely intolerable.  I know several Eagles fans, including my best friend Joe, who decided to taunt me over calling McNabb over

Mike Gundy Loses (Again)

The state of Oklahoma is constantly fighting the stereotypes that accompany Middle America and gets few opportunities to sidestep the snickering. 14-days out of the year, the University of Oklahoma thrusts the Sooner state into the national spotlight with a beautifully choreographed offense and a take no prisoner defense. They play football to move the needle and alter the perception of the region. But leave it to the "opies" from Stillwater to knock down the blocks and replace these images with laughter and mockery.

Vince is the Real Deal

It seems like Vince Young is turning out to be the real deal and Bush is looking like just another guy in the league.

All the dancing that Bush did in college isn't working in the NFL because the defenses are way too fast. He needs to find a way to run between the tackles and turn up field or watch those endoresments start to go down the drain if he doesn't start turning in some big time performances.

Vince on the other hand is picking up the NFL game rather quickly. I'm not sure if it was bad defense by the Saints or great play by Vince

Red Sox -240

Big pitching mismatch here and the Sox should be motivated to close out the division now. Schilling is the guy you want on the mound. Simulator says they should win 74% of the time, which makes this a solid investment. No, they haven't been laying well, but neither has Oakland and Gaudin has been throwing batting practice since the break. The other big favs don't excite me. The Mets look like a choke waiting to happen and I don't like going against Tampa in Tampa. Too many pesky hitters.

Introduction

The purpose of this blog is to help you and me to think through the games. I will post any investment opportunities that I see and when time allows, I'll also include some of my thought process. Your picks will be different most of the time, but hopefully I can add a unique perspective that will be of benefit to everyone.

This post is about laying out a goal for the year. The goal will be to increase the bankroll at least 50% over the following year. Each play will be to win 1 unit or 1% of the bankroll. By grinding out a slow profit, we won't get rich quick
