Early Season College Basketball Impressions

UCLA is the best team in college basketball, and nobody can convince me otherwise. Now, they may not win the national title at the end of the year because of how much luck and match-ups play a role in winning six straight games in a tournament setting, but having seen Memphis, UNC, and Kansas play I am very confident in my declaration.

The Bruins have it all. With the addition of freshman big man Kevin Love, UCLA now has a legitimate player to go to in the post and to get points when the offense gets bogged down. He is opening up the perimeter for his teammates

Thursday Night Foooooooty

Hello football fans,

I know your as excited as I am that Thursday night football is once again here to make Thursdays actually meaningful. I love Thursday football, especially when its two teams that have had a full week to prepare for the game (I think they should have it all year long using the teams that are on the previous bye-week to play the next week on Thurs, but thats another blog). This weeks matchup promises to be a battle of two powerhouses which both have near guarenteed playoff clinches of homefield with a win.

What to Expect: While everyone will

NFL System: Week 13 Projections

Tonight is probably the most important game in the NFC.  I know, you've heard that tons of times, and for obvious reasons it is true.  However, I have a reason that not many people are talking about.  This game could determine who goes to the Super Bowl from the NFC.

These two teams are the class of the NFC.  There is no one else who compares to them, or who can be placed on their level.  It would be a shocker to see one of these teams go down before the NFC title game, and they both will probably end up with similar records at the end of the year, possibly

Thursday night football

Ok everybody, your money man is back on track and ready to crack.....the bank that is, but first a rant.  I can't stand Thursday night football.  I think it puts a bad product on the field; think about it, the teams only get 3 days to recover and implement a gameplan for this new opponent.(perhaps that's why a couple games last year ended up with scores like 13-7 and 9-7).  In addition, those teams then get an advantage the next week because of the extra time to recover and gameplan.  I know that the NFL's greed machine is never satisfied and always hungry for more

Waivers and Start/Sit Advice - Week 13

Somehow, I acquired Adrian Peterson (CHI) off the waiver wire last night. I am ranked #2 in this league and thus had the 11th ranking for waiver transactions. Since I had Benson in that league, I put in the request for AP2 and I ended up getting him. Droughns and Cobbs went off the wire first - does anyone else find that odd? Are expectations that low for AP2? Granted, I'm not sure I'll be starting him anytime soon since I've got a little depth at RB, but I can't believe someone actually wanted Cobbs before Peterson. It's a strange fantasy world out there.

So

NCAA System Week 14

I want to point out a few glaring errors with the current ranking system:

1.  LSU is ranked #7 behind Virginia Tech.  Both have two losses.  I'd imagine if they played each other, LSU would beat the crap out of Virginia Tech.  Unfortunately, there is no way to prove this.  Oh, wait...

2.  Kansas is ranked 5th, despite the fact that they have yet to beat a winning team.  Oh wait, they beat Texas A&M, who are 7-5.  That's justification.

3.  Ohio State and Georgia are done, and will probably benefit from Missouri playing

Disappointments and Pleasant Surprises

This blog has nothing but a few random thoughts primarily focused on things that have disappointed me and things that have pleasantly surprised me this Fall across sports.

As a glass is half empty type guy, I'll start with the disappointments.  For the sake of my own sanity, I'm not even going to discuss my former favorite team, The Baltimore Ravens, since my feeling towards them goes way beyond disappointing.

Monday night matchup

OK, no matter how you look at things we need this game tonight.  Accuscore runs their weeks Monday through Sunday which means last week we went 4-4, but since I mainly bet on NFL, I run my weeks Tuesday through Monday which means we are 4-3 so far.  So whether its to start the week off well after a .500 week, or to end the week 5-3, like I said, we need this game, so here goes.  The Pittsburgh Steelers are 5-0 at home against teams with a .473 winning percentage, winning each game by at least 21 except the most recent one against Cleveland.  Miami has no offense to speak of

The Monday Nighter

Salutations gamblers,

Christner here with my take on this weeks monday night's MIA @ PIT matchup.

What to Expect: PIT has all but ruled out WR Santonio Holmes and Defensive leader Troy Palamalu. PIT is coming off a disgusting loss to a terrible NYJ team, where they played poorly on both sides of the ball. Look for an inspired team to show up, and more specifically for the PIT defense to do a far better job against the run than they did against the Jets, because they will get a heavy dose of the combo of Chatman and Sticky Icky Ricky Williams (if Chatman does

Fantasy Football Sleeper and Waiver Wire Watch Week 13

Welcome to week 13 and this weeks fantasy football sleeper and waiver wire watch. I like to list more players than most other sites because I play in some deeper leagues and I need to look a little deeper. Lets get to it.

May be available now…
Adrian Peterson RB (CHI) - Benson went down and it didn’t look to good. In my opinion there were many times that Peterson looked better than Benson the way it was. If Benson misses any time, Peterson is a hot pick-up and should be very useful down the stretch
