I know, I know, it is only March. But damn it, predictions is what I do. I am going through a bit of withdrawal here, so humor me. Besides, this is a much more fun way to explore what’s been happening in free agency. So here we go.

Today I am starting a series of posts outlining my predictions for each division in 2008 along with some fantasy implications to go along with them.

After a little over a week of free agency here is what I think the

Earlier today I was reading quotes from Alexander Ovechkin stating that Nicklas Backstrom was the best rookie this year, and would be the best center in the NHL for years to come.  With a presence in front of the net like he showed today, I can see why.  With just 27 seconds remaining in the game, Backstrom stood tall at the corner of the crease, received a pass, and stuffed the shot right past the goalie for the winning goal.

The only problem?  It was his own goalie.

Digging Deeper for the Keeper

For those of you who play in Dynasty/Keeper Leagues, here is a list of rookies and or minor leaguers who might be worth a bid.

This list mainly applies to deep leagues, but these players should come cheap, and can help lead to a championship down the road.

A story I read today detailed about how some Jets players were upset over the money the team has been spending on free agents this off-season.  The Jets have spent $142 million in free agency so far this off-season, which brought this comment from an anonymous player:

"You pay guys you don't even know, and the guys in the locker room -- the guys that have your back -- you don't give a damn about them," an anonymous player told The New York Daily

As you may have noticed, I discontinued the daily picks article a few weeks ago.  I stopped writing it for a multiple amount of reasons.  It just wasn't fun.  I would write the post each day, and only a handful of people would read it.  More importantly, it wasn't something I wanted to write for the most part.  I could care less about college basketball.  I am a casual NBA fan, focusing mainly on the top players, but no where near my interest in other sports.  So basically, with the exception of hockey, I was picking games that I had little to no interest
